Schwartz must have naked pictures of Katz or something. There is literally no other reason that this clown, much like the clown before him Freddy Chabot, should still have a job.

Let's not pretend that professional sports, and especially the NHL, is a meritocracy.

How many general managers, coaches and front office staff are given chance after chance after chance and then after years of futility get recycled through in other franchises.

It's the furthest thing from a meritocracy. It's an old boy's country club where nepotism reigns and unqualified people are littered throughout every organization.

I’m at the point where I want Dusty in prison not just fired. He gets the same type of rope an established coaching legend would have. Where was he before the Oilers? The Oil Kings? That’s it?? Who has he developed? Skinner and Hart?

It’s just so disappointing. Schwartz played so well last year and had being playing so well this year when Pikard was in net. Now it’s just gone to shit.
 
His stats to get drafted and make it in the NHL were PATHETIC. He was ATE UP imagine playing a season with 3 wins and 14 losses. Dude is hardcore the reason why McDavid never saw the cup yet. We started out pathetically in Woodcrofts prime and we threw him away when we needed the G upgrades and D upgrades and F upgrades for A DECADE.

Also like I said this Dustin guy never made it far besides playing for the U of A and posting .908-.931 save % and anyways he sucks. His mental game was weak from the start he never got anywhere beyond Canadian university hockey, yet has been here shitting up our goalies since 2015-16! Agreed. Knoblauch should be canned too. He wasn’t really a pro.

I am in no way defending Dustin Schwartz. He is an abysmal failure as a goalie coach with the Oilers. As for being a pathetic human being, I don’t think that’s the case but I won’t even get involved in that discussion with you.

But, you do not have to have had an NHL career to even remotely qualify you to be a successful goalie coach. Mitch Korn, the Allaire brothers all parlayed a keen sense of how to use a combination of the team’s and the goalie’s strengths/weaknesses; knowledge of solid position fundamentals to develop a number of quality players at the position.

The problem with Schwartz is his CV indicates he can’t do this - multiple management structures where he has failed with the same middling results, a number of goalies he’s worked with and the same middling results.

This failure is on management to not assess the outputs of the coach and act accordingly. Who knows, maybe under a different coach Stu looks, plays and has different results. (I’m stretching there but trying to find a positive).

The problem with trading for another goalie like Gibson, is what happens when Schwartz gets a hold of him? Does he then suck? There's a risk making trades because the goalie coach is so bad.

They actually fired Schwartz years ago but no one ever actually told him. Then during the last forensic audit it was discovered through a glitch in payroll, he was still getting paid the last several years. They fixed the payroll situation but now instead of asking him to return the money, they’re making him work for free. It’ll balance out eventually.

Kind of like what happened to this guy :D:

That’s why getting a seasoned vet with a bit of Mike Smith attitude will be better. Gibson was my top get as I think he’d be telling Schwartz to pound sand if he tried changing his technique but now that he got hurt over the weekend, it muddies the water.

Yeah. I don't like Schwartz, but we have the least athletic goalie in the league. A goalie that's resorted to lunging head/hands first at cross creases the last season because he is unable to butterfly slide more than 2 inches. Skinner is not built to be an elite starting goalie in any capacity. It is what it is. He's another big guy that doesnt bring much else in any other facet other than hoping pucks hit him.
