I love fans thinking they know stuff.
What are the "fans" missing? He seems to be mediocre at his craft at best yet untouchable for the better part of ten years- longer than any other coach or front office person.

Must be his buddy. What are the "fans" missing? He seems to be mediocre at his craft at best yet untouchable for the better part of ten years- longer than any other coach or front office person.

And what praytell are we missing? An entire decade of substandard goaltending save for one year, and there's the fact that he very likely scouted Jack Campbell. There's no reason to keep this guy.The fans are missing any direct knowledge.
You must be his ex wife.Must be his buddy.
There is zero excuse for DS to be here still. Just collecting his $$ while being beyond mediocre. I don't blame him. Who wouldn't want to be a freeloader?
It would be justified.Prepare for a total meltdown when Oilers shore up our goaltending with Schwartz's fav Tristan Jarry.
It would be complete understandable and even with a 50% retention, there's a no chance they're looking that way. There's no Jack Campbell to trade the other way this year.Prepare for a total meltdown when Oilers shore up our goaltending with Schwartz's fav Tristan Jarry.
Why should he keep his job?You must be his ex wife.
Or at least the vitriol is similar.

?? No he needs to be fired, he's been here since 2014, there has been a consistent problem here since then....he needs to go, it's very clear. You must be his ex wife.

Being his ex wouldn't be bad actually. Ex hubby picks his nose with no results and he's getting paid, so therefore, I am getting half of that. Gravy train babyYou must be his ex wife.

Well I think they want to win and hire people to help them win. That would make sense to me.So you come into the thread, insist there's a valid reason no one but the inside circle knows about for keeping someone objectively bad at their job employed, and then won't offer it. I am guessing there is a relation ITT, but it's not anyone's ex-spouse.
I imagine the people who hire him aren’t of your opinion.?? No he needs to be fired, he's been here since 2014, there has been a consistent problem here since then....he needs to go, it's very clear.
The people who hired him are one of those 6 city workers that you see watching 2 other guys work.Well I think they want to win and hire people to help them win. That would make sense to me.

Who the f*** can still defend Schwartz in this stage? Seriously.
- Negative GSAx in 7/10 seasons.
- 6th-worst GSAx under him (all 5 worse have fired goalie coaches)
- Survived 5 coaching changes.
- Survived 3 GM changes (4 if you count interim)
- Was a huge factor within the organization on advocating signing the bust of a contract and player in Jack Campbell.
- Former goalie in Mike Smith hired his own goalie coach to work with during a previous summer rather than having to work with Schwartz.
Even if Schwartz isn’t the problem, every other part of the organization has had turnover from the last decade to now, and he hasn’t exactly helped improved any goalie's performance which is the job of a coach in the first place. Every single goalie I've seen under his coaching has had the same issues. First or second shot = goal against, makes the goalie look smaller in net, and etc.
He DESERVED to be booed from the crowd here when the announcer announced his name for the 1st game this season.
Fire this incompetent dipshit.
Kevin Lowe is still with the Oilers, by the way.Well I think they want to win and hire people to help them win. That would make sense to me.

Somebody signs his paycheques on an ongoing basis. But anyone who would have been involved in hiring him ten years ago (outside Katz) is no longer with the org. What has he done since to justify that he is the best person in his area of specialty to help them win?
Bravo.
Okay? The Oilers aren't a model organization by any means. Incompetent employees tend get the boot, not a paycheque.Somebody signs his paycheques on an ongoing basis.

The only logical thing is that he is being kept around as a favor. It's obviously not his performance that is keeping him around. How he's lasted this long is baffling, and wonders if there is some kind of nepotism at play that isn't public knowledge.
I mean Jesus, Woodcroft got turfed due to a short lived, but historically bad run of PDO luck (including HORRIBLE goaltending **looking at your Schwartz!**), but this guy is still employed?
