Any thoughts on this:

Cocky kid?

The guy who just had 3pts and a +7 in the frozen four final and one of the most dominant performances ever in the NCAA by a Dman giving credits to his teammates and saying it's all about the team.

cocky? No way.

Apparently Berube will be using our regular season roster on Thursday, so if Ghost is in that game, it means there is a very good chance he starts in the NHL.

What kind of role will Ghost play if he makes the roster? Will he be getting PP time?

Ghost would probably be put on the bottom pairing with either Grossmann, or L.Schenn. And Ghost would probably be on the second PP unit, and there is a good chance the entire PP would work through him.

If he's up and not getting PP time, it would be a huge waste of his talent. He won't be on the first unit right away, but definitely on the second ripping shots.

Streit is gonna be on PP1 (Finally, should've been there last year), and after him I can't think of anybody but Ghost who could come close to filling that role on the second unit.

I have wanted him to get the seasoning in the AHL. But I must say, he has impressed. I do think MDZ is on a short leash in Philly knowing that Ghost looked so good at camp.

I think he's gonna force his way up after two months or so in the AHL

If MDZ continues to look like a beer leaguer around the 20 or so game mark (maybe even less since he looked bad in preseason) I really can't see any way of justifying him in over Gostisbehere.

I have a feeling Gostisbehere pulls a B. Schenn & forces their hand to call him up earlier than they expected (combined with MDZ being terrible).

Anyone know if Gost projects to be a top pair D, big minute sort of guy, or more a back-pair lower minute PP specialist ?

Hard to say until you see if his size is any sort of limitation defensively. Personally, I think he has the skating and puck control ability to be a two-way beast.

That is sort of the question. He could go both ways. He has #1 potential, but probably the most likely scenario is that he plays 2nd pairing minutes with tons of PP time.

Gostisbehere recalled:
The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, according to GM Ron Hextall.

Gostisbehere will be available for Saturday’s Flyers-Red Wings game at the Wells Fargo Center, and should he get in the line-up would make his NHL debut.

After a strong training camp, Gostisbehere opened his first pro season in Lehigh Valley with the Phantoms, posting two assists in three games.

He also appeared in three preseason games for the Flyers and recorded two goals and an assist for three points and six shots on goal.

The transaction comes following Friday’s injury announcement that defensemen Braydon Coburn and Andrew MacDonald will be out for approximately four weeks due to lower-body injuries. Coburn had been out of the line-up for the previous six contests, but MacDonald will miss his first game of the season.

Surprised Hexy is adding Ghost, especially after his comments earlier today. In any event, should make the next 4 wks more exciting.
