Ghost seems like the only other player on the team asides from probably Voracek that thinks the game as quickly as Giroux. That is exactly what the team needs. Too many low hockey IQ players. Thankfully that is a strength for all of the prospects they've been taking since Hextall took over.

What I see is a high IQ player with a couple of world class physical attributes - skating and shot. He also seems to be a plus passer and has held his own physically. That's a really good mix; he has the potential to be a special player.

I agree that Provorov's offensive ceiling may not be as Ghost's, but Sanheim definitely has a similar ceiling. He's very dynamic with the puck and skates just as well if not better than Ghost. Definitely check out his highlights from last season on YouTube

It's a different type of offense though. Ghost uses the short-area quickness and big slap shot to his advantage more than anything. Sanheim joins the attack more often and likes to skate the puck into the zone more often than virtually any defender I've seen. He's got a better wrist shot but doesn't have much in the way of a slapshot.

There is definitely validity to your statement. However, i don't think its a fair assessment to assume Sanheim is capable of something Ghost is not. Aside from a size advantage they both have similar qualities. Ghost absolutely joins the play as much as he can, so I don't agree with the "more often" point.

He's a slippery little guy

He's a slippery little guy

Not shown: his non effort on the shorthanded goal by the Islanders. Love what I see from him but he needs to play with the same urgency at both ends. Flyers got a good one.

You mean the play where he got back, made a great play to poke-check the puck away...

and which point Voracek; as the puck is heading away from safety towards the boards, decides to poke at the puck and sends it straight to Cizikas all alone in-front!

He made a few poor defensive plays in the game, and has in other games as well, but that goal was almost 100% on Voracek, he made 3 separate bad plays that led to it.

Also, this GIF is just ridiculous. I'm not gloating, I'm legitimately asking, who in the league plays like this?

Yeah, you're right. I've never seen a guy skate around the ice with puck on his stick, dangling opposing players. That was some pretty crazy stuff. Next contract: 8 years, 80 million. Make it happen, Hexy!

Give us Flyers fans some leeway...we are currently trotting out MDZ and Gudas as out top pairing.

Then following that excellent pair with Schultz and Schenn.

And Ghost gets to play with Manning.

Sorry if we get excited with Ghost because he is a breathe of fresh air and the first glance of our future D.

:ghost2:

haha im assuming you are being sarcastic...hes been Philly's best dman

He may have been playing well and may have been Philly's best dman recently (not saying all that much) but last night he was bad. Flashy yes, but last night his play was poor.

Really? I've been seeing a lot of people mentioning him around HF but I assumed it was sarcasm. I'll have to check him out if you're serious

He was doing unreal things with the puck on the breakout and deking guys out mercilessly, teams caught on and now they hound him but he's been our best offensive d so far as a rookie.

I watched both these guys, he and Ghost, in NCAA and thought they were always on par. Ghost has some +'s in shot and IQ but Hutton has size and skating on him. Both electrifying offensive talents that I look forward to watching for a long time :handclap:

Colour this Flyer hating fan impressed.

Kid's got the goods- dynamic skater with some of the best edges in the league. Real quickness in close and a plus plus confidence with the puck. Just needs to clean up his own end and be tougher in front of the net. Will take obstruction type penalties in the defensive zone to make up for these deficiencies- but make no mistake, he's a game breaker and deadly on the power play.

I disagree but that's alright.

I expect this kid to not set foot in the AHL again.. Hes too dynamic not to stay with philly now

He was pretty awful last night.

I thought he was great offensively but his defensive game needs work. Not saying he was solely responsible for the Cizikas Shorthanded goal but he didn't help. There were a few other plays in the defensive zone he made questionable choices

I saw him get back and smack the puck away from the attacker, what did you see?
I'm a Flyers fan who loves Gostisbehere, but I'll admit there are glaring issues in his defensive game. That goal, for example, could have been prevented if he more instinctively played the body. He's been undersized his whole career, so its understandable why he would shy away from physicality, but he needs to adapt now that he's put on some weight.

isles fan here coming in peace.

watched small bits of the NYI/PHi game and loved the small highlights i saw of ghost, although they were only offensive clips.

been a fan of him for a while now, just wondering how he's done in his own end this year.

thanks fellas
