im trying hard to temper my excitement, but he is even better than i thought he would be. He is being played like he is our best dman out there which makes sense because he is.

Feels like I'm watching the beginning of the career of a dynamic top-pairing d-man. So awesome. Please don't send him down when Streit comes back, designate Manning instead, IDGAF about him.

Ghost is a lot of fun in 3v3

He was a lot of fun to watch in 3v3 but still has some work to do, I noticed a few times where he was pressured off the puck a bit easily, but luckily that was in the offensive zone. Very exciting for Flyers fans though, don't see any reason he shouldn't stay with the team all year! :handclap:

Was he that good all game? I saw him play in OT and a bit of the 3rd. Wow is all I can say. This is the first time I've watched him this year (albeit for a short viewing).

I expected him to be great offensively, and he certainly has been, but I'm surprised at how good he's been defensively too. He's no shutdown defender, but his skating and smarts make up for his lack of size.

Easily our second best player since being called up, only behind Giroux. I would be shocked if he ever plays another AHL game, he's just too good to send down.

His speed and puck moving ability are already easily the best on the team and he's done so much to help us get out of the defensive zone... Which none of our other defensemen are capable of doing.

Not to pour too much cold water on this coming-out party, but according to Bill M., Gostisbehere was part of several Flyers 5's who were pinned in their zone for extended periods. I didn't see the game so I can't evaluate his perspective. Opinions from those who saw the game?

That's what happens when you're paired with Manning and the 4th line.

that would have been perfect. unlike most of our players, when he gets chances im expecting him to score.

Yeah, that made it even worse. With any other Flyer my mindset would have been - watch them blow this. With Ghost, I actually thought it was going to go in and bring the house down.

He was our best D man in his 3rd NHL game.

Great play to tie the game up, also had a nice point shot earlier that caused trouble in-front.

He looks like he is on fast forward when he has ice to make up... just unreal wheels, we all ofc knew how fast he was but impressive seeing him show it at the highest level... there was one play in particular he was coming back off a pinch and not only caught a guy from a few yards behind on the angle, but got ahead and pivoted so facing him.

I think I said this in his '1st goal' thread, but what impressed me last night beyond his skating was that he didn't often need to use it because of his reads, he was just flat out there before a King much of the time. And everyone knows about his tools, but last night, his confidence was on display, too. If he can keep that when he hits an eventual rough patch, he's never going back down. Kid is even better than I thought he would be, particularly this early.

Pretty much this, but it wasn't because he was totally lost or anything, he was very clearly looking around to other Flyers to ensure coverage, just settling things before regaining possession.

The Kings are kind of hard to move off the puck when they get things rolling in the OZ.
