I think Miller would be great tradebait as I'd guess we can probably find a team who values him quite highly. I don't see him as a blue chip prospect and we have IMO far more talented players in Lundqvist and Jones who I rate far higher than Miller, not to mention all the other young and talented guys already playing for the Rangers.

Rangers are not trading Miller

I am reluctant to blame the coach, but there was something wrong with the WI team last year. They had way too much talent to underachieve the way they did. Some supposedly high IQ players, too.

I feel like Miller is a player who should be playing right nowHe has limited experience a defenceman and losing a year of development would hurt him alot . Would be good if the Rangers found a loan situation for him, maybe Allsvenskan would be ideal

That was a really young team... Best players were all playing their first NCAA season outside of Miller...

Relax on Miller. It might take him a while, and he might never get there, but he also might end up being a top 4 guy for a long time. He has all the tools, just the late start at D has put him behind a bit.
With the present shortage of quality size amongst forward prospects, you wonder if he should've stayed at forward.

he's just a hard player to nail down. i don't know that he's established an identity and the relatively short time on d is certainly a major factor. he's got a ton of gifts, and i've seen signs of pretty solid hockey sense. i think the perceived setback that was last year was in some ways over analyzed, that wisco team was just a disaster of a "team" and the on ice result made everyone look worse. i think because of his skating and size at those levels he had a habit of trying to do too much and took a lot of risks that made him look bad at times rather than poor hockey sense...but thats an optimistic read...also possible its a habit he'll never correct. i think the optimism in my thought became more convinced hearing the rangers brass review of his game in bubble camp - they were clearly extremely impressed, i didn't take it was general praise for a highly regarded kid coming in and just holding his own...it was more like they couldn't stop talking about him up because it was that impressive and far beyond any expectations they had for him coming in. he's got a lot to like and a lot to offer, he's got a tremendously high ceiling but also comes with uncertainties in fundamental parts of the game which carries risk he can become an effective nhl defenseman. i'm partial to thinking he's going to make it no problem and the question becomes how good can he become primarily because of what came out of that camp...but i can see where people would have a lot of questions about his game and what he'll become and its not unreasonable to carry the same amount of skepticism with him that the people who like him have optimism. do agree with the thought it would be better for him to be playing somewhere now, think the best thing for his development would be playing as many games as possible but not sure what the realities of that are...if its not a high enough level he'll end up going back to trying to do everything and thats not beneficial

I think you’re wrong. I think it’s poor sense without a defined skillset. He skates great and is big. What else does he do well? He can show flashes of good defense and good offense, but it’s not consistent with either part of the game. I think best case we are probably talking about a Brady Skjei. I don’t personally believe he’ll even be that good. I hope I’m wrong. I don’t know why so many people are counting on him for any NHL contribution next season though. I think he’s at least a season or two away from the NHL.

If a D prospect is being traded, is not a left-handed one. Its as simple as that.

Agreed on all counts. He doesn't impress me. He may develop into a pp point man but he hasn't looked that good in my viewings.

Can't skate anywhere like Skjei

It seems like Miller has a good chance to make the team. Of course, he could still find himself in Hartford pretty quick if we get to the regular season and he is clearly overmatched. But it's good to hear that he's doing well, and if he can make an impact this year, that means Jack Johnson will play less.

Whch means little because Quinn is a mediocre coach.

More that he has had an excellent camp and has been impressing the Rangers (not just Quinn) since this past summer when he participated in their "restart" training camp.

Doesn't mean that he'll stick in the NHL or anything but from all indications he's earned this and it's not just Quinn making the call

Where does he go in a redraft of 2018 ?
Hard to say since he hasn’t really played in a long time (like other prospects I know) but I would say around 18-20. He was picked 22 overall. He had an amazing rookie year at Wisconsin followed by an ok year.
