I'm still surprised he fell out of the top-10. I mean... I'm super happy with having Sergachev, but I wouldn't have complained if we drafted Chychrun either. Dude has all the tools.

He's unreal. Again tonight he looks great. Him and OEL in the top 4 is just deadly.

Ill be curious if they can acquire Trouba with forwards and/or prospects and/or picks. I know Jets want a dman though

OEL - Trouba
Chychrun - Murphy

that would be a fun top 4 for the future.

I know a lot of people were thinking Yotes would have to give Chychrun + for Trouba , but IMO now, there is no chance in hell Yotes move Chychrun for Trouba.

But Id imagine though that Jets would be demanding Chychrun if they wanted Trouba.

Chychrun on ELC > Trouba being paid + whatever it takes to get him in trade

The importance of drafting, right there.

Another assist off what looked like a set play deflection. He's outplayed OEL this game and the last.

So Impressed with this kid. When he made it past 15 I was sure he would be an islander. Great move by the yotes to grab him.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

God I love HFboards. 2 games and people are declaring busts.
While there's nothing crazy for him to believe Chychrun is going to be better than Juolevi, it's worth noting the guy has a long history of downplaying Finnish players in some of the most ridiculous ways, so you can take his comment with a grain of salt. :D

But to get back to the topic, I gotta say it seems like Coyotes got a good steal even though everyone knew the kid's potential. So weird to see a player like him to fall so far in the draft.

Just embarrassed Seidenberg with a move. I think we can start writing him off of the Canadian WJC team. He's by far the most notable of the Coyotes youngsters (Chychrun, Dvorak, D. Strome and Crouse) in the games I've seen.

Funny how all the teams with great prospect pools more or less lucked into another elite prospect this draft. Peg moves way up to the second pick to get Laine courtesy the lottery. Edmonton gets screwed by the lottery but for some reason unbeknownst to me Columbus hands them Jesse, and then half the GMs in the league have a collective stroke and let Chrychrun fall to 16th. I'm not going to consider the Leafs getting Matthews lucky because they finished dead last... Though they picked the right year to do it.

Forget Juolevi, the teams that should really be feeling foolish right now are the Bruins and Hurricanes, taking McAvoy and Bean before this guy.

I'd add New Jersey and Minnesota to that list. Although Minnesota was much stronger on D, so taking Kunin was somewhat understandable. Chychrun could make a lot of teams look foolish. I'd guess playing through injury and a sub-par U-18 really hurt him. Also, sometimes when guys fall, we really don't know all the details. Chychrun has an injury history, which may have scared teams off or got him flagged.

He was my yearly, "really hope the Leafs can somehow trade up for this guy" guy. Last year was Barzal who coincidently enough also dropped to 16 and was drafted after a team traded for that pick. Can't believe he dropped to 16, 'yotes have a stud

Have you seen our forwards this year? It's beyond comprehension how bad they've been. We're 4th in goals against and last in scoring, again. Chychrun is going to be fantastic, but our forward situation is beyond our top priority.

I've seen both McLeod and Chychrun, and know which one I'd rather have (and this isn't a recent opinion, I've held it all of last year). You go BPA unless you are extremely loaded in one position, which the Devils aren't at either. I'd say its just as likely it looks like a massive mistake for the Devils, as it does for the two teams you've singled out.

Chychrun's offensive potential is very tempting, but other than Zacha and maybe Blake Speers the Devils have only drafted one top six forward in the last 10 years, ONE, and that's Adam Henrique.

That absolutely had to be corrected. I don't think the difference between McLeod and Chychrun will be big enough to negate that.

And, as I mentioned, our supposedly terrible defense is 4th in the league at preventing goals.

ok since when does Edmonton have a great prospect pool? Other than winning the McDavid sweepstakes, who were those great prospects?

NHL scouts are terrible sometimes. Chychrun was an elite talent way before getting injured . I still don't see why he fell .

Mcdavid would've be better lol, but I was praying for a trade so we could pick up chychrun always liked him. Like how do you get guys like that at 16.

I don't really see the coyotes getting him at 16 as luck. They considered him at 7 but rightfully chose Keller. To get him at 16 they had to make a trade that was viewed fairly negative on hfboards and the young GM was ridiculed at the time as being fleeced by Holland. Seems now they knew exactly what they were doing.
