In Gostisbeheres defense, Hakstols icetime management is incredibly questionable all over the roster so that's not the best way to judge the two.

I'd say they're about equally as impressive. Ghosts for his offense, Provorov for his defense. And Ghost has moments where his defensive IQ looks awesome, just like Provorov has moments where his offensive skills shine. But what Provorov definitely has over Ghost is size, which makes a big difference.

Both have been incredible so far in their careers. Very exciting for Flyers fans to have both and still even more great talent on the way.

Given that his smarts have been his greatest asset, I'm going to go on a hunch and say that there's nothing wrong with his mental quickness. As for dynamic qualities, I think players like Suter and Vlasic will be disappointed to learn that they don't have what it takes to be a top defenseman.

As good as Gostisbehere was last year, I think you'll find that a lot of Flyers fans have been more impressed by Provorov. And while he (along with his entire team) had a poor Memorial Cup, he did play extremely well during the WJC. I also find myself wondering how the CHL Defenseman of the Year somehow didn't dominate a league that he was awarded for dominating in.

Although his entire post was laughable, I found this part the most amusing.

Just imagine how great he would be now if he stayed in Russia to develop and didn't have that traumatizing culture shock at such a young age? Minimum 40 minutes/game.:sarcasm:

As far as rookie D where do you guys think he is compared to the others. Right now it's obviously Werenski is tips and might be in the calder lead but guys like Carlo and chychrun (spelling might be way off) are also playing great. Is he #2 or slightly behind maybe Carlo? What do you think puts him above or below those guys? I had those 2 ahead of prov at the start of the year but he has made huge strides since then.

I don't think there is any way he is behind Carlo now, and he is definitely not behind Chychrun. Werenski is so good offensively, so it's hard to argue that he isn't ahead, but Provy's defending is better (IMO) than Werenski's and the offense is coming, though it probably will never be as good as Werenski's. Very close, the two of them, and they are both very good. As far as Calder voting goes, I don't think Provy will even be in the discussion, just because of the way it is and the number of guys playing so well and scoring so much. But he's right up there as a prospect with any of this year's rookies, short- and long-term.

I don't think either are at the level of those 2 either right now but Provorov started slow.and I for sure had Carlo at #2 rookie as far as play... not potential future. But I agree as of right now he passes Carlos play so far this year and that is impressive because he has been fantastic.

He has exceeded my expectations ten fold in his performance thus far. Not a prospect anymore at all, he has been exceptional. Enjoy him Flyer fans!

Been watching him a lot with all the hype between him and Werenski. Dude plays a big, solid skill game. I mentioned on our board that he looks so much bigger and stronger than Werenski. When I looked at the vitals he's shorter and lighter than Werenski. Provorov plays a heavy skill game. I love Werenski and believe he will continue to get stronger and not lose the speed or skill factor. Provorov looks like that player already. Both really good players. Would take either on my team and not blink.

Kid has been unreal the past month. Been playing like a legit #1 dman and looks the part of a franchise dman going forward. Still has the bad turnover every now and then but he has improved on that.

I know this clip is lacking in excitement, and really, has a weak Eller in it. But what Provy DOESN'T do, is what impresses me.

He skates to close the gap on Eller, then instead of trying to hit him right away, he makes sure he is in position in case Eller tries a move on him to cut to the center of the ice. If you watch carefully, he let's up on his skating, and just let's Eller run himself out of room.

Lots of other Dmen would have closed the gap and kept skating toward him going for a big hit. That could have left him open for Eller to quickly cut to the center leaving Provy missing him, and a scoring chance to follow.

I hope I explained that ok. It's something subtle that he did that some might not notice. Just thought I would point it out.

Definitely. That was a feast or feast draft choice. Both should be top-pairing Dmen for a long time.

Yea, it's this kind of stuff that he does consistently that alot of people take for granted.

I don't have any clips, but one thing he does game in and game out along the boards is impressive. When the opposition dumps a puck, and he goes in against a forward on the forecheck, his knowledge of body position is phenomenal for his age. He angles himself so that he is able to use his leverage and win the puck without overexerting himself physically. It's really subtle stuff, but pretty impressive from a 19 year old playing D in the NHL.

Here's another nice highlight from last night. The biggest change from the start of the year until now is his confidence.

I just about lost my mind when I saw him do that. That's about as fancy as Ghost has looked deking out opposing players. I doubted his offensive abilities when we drafted him, but hes gonna be just fine.

Sky is the limit for this guy

What I like the most about Provorov is his number. Not many NHLer can pull off the #9

Saw him do this in Brandon. This is part of the reason why I regarded him so highly in the 2015 draft. He is a player I liked very much then, and today. Philly has a good one here.

So just in terms of this thread, if JP, Marner etc are no longer considered prospects and don't have threads, should this guy? over 25 GP and I think he has pretty well shown that he will never again play anywhere except the NHL.
