I think this is probably the biggest thing, said by the SCSU Coach:
For physically underdeveloped guys, I would imagine the CHL is a better fit for his development at this point in time.

Generally the philosophy has been the other way around. Fewer games in the NCAA provides the players more opportunity to hit the weight room.
Is he going to play in the AHL or WHL next year? IMO I think he's better off in the WHL
Should have just stayed in college..
Any chance he gets any games with the Wings at least to start the year? Their defense doesn't look that pretty right now.
I'd like to see him in junior next year before jumping to the AHL. Anything but NCAA where he only plays like 35 games. He needs to play more. Much more.
You know playing more games doesn't always mean better development.

I hope he dominates, he really should be able to with the tools he possesses. I think this is the right long-term move.
This is a strange move considering he played an extra year of Junior A to get to college when he could have spent those two year already in junior, no?
Not saying it's a bad move or that it won't work, obviously he has had a change of heart for some reason re: NCAA.
I like him as a prospect and hope he succeeds this season with the Cougars. What are his odds at the Canadian WJC team?
Top picks going to programs getting buried as freshmen. It's better for them to get more ice time going to junior now. I bet he'll be in the AHL in one year anyway.
It's definitely not a typical Red Wings decision, so they may have just wanted him away from St Cloud for whatever reason. He's actually up to 196 lbs now, so appears that he took advantage of the training time at SCSU. I think he was 177 at the 2016 combine. This is a kid that needs the extra time in the weight room though, I really think another year in college would have helped.
And god forbid they go someplace where they have to earn their time. Nope lets take the easy way out
Half kidding there, I know it's been talked about earlier in his thread, but if the Wings played much of a role in his decision to leave St. Cloud, that may represent their management changing philosophies. They've always been very patient, almost to a fault, with their prospects. And with their teams current situation, maybe they're making adjustments on the fly.
