GDT: Latvia Vs Canada | 7:30PM | Group A - Canadian Tire Centre

Lol good lord, Latvia can't even handle the puck.

I've lost interest in this tournament over the years but glad I caught the end of this one

Third ever win at the World Juniors in the preliminary round. They just beat what is considered the greatest hockey country.

For a country that is trying to build a program, this is a massive accomplishment. Regardless if they shit the bed here on out.

Yeah, but shouldn't the expectation be to win a few games? Or do they just show up hoping to not get swept?

Latvia deserves all the credit in the world. They should have been DOA after the 2-1 goal but they kept their heads down and battled to tie it and then threw everything including the kitchen sink to keep that game from ending in OT.

That being said, Canada is also pathetic. They played so smugly early in the game with all the bullshit dangling and hero play they tried to do for most of the first two periods. And the less said about that shootout, the better. Cowen's, ahem "attempt" looked like the type of shit someone tries to do in the EA sports games before they realize the leg kick does approximately f*** all.

I have a feeling Latvia gets taken to town by the US tomorrow, but they earned every second of this high they're likely on right now.

I think the surprising part for me is that it’s not surprising. They weren’t good in pre-tournament and they weren’t good against Finland. It’s never an issue to lose an early one like this though it’s more of a red alert because of their overall performance.
