Hey look, it's the anti-Rangers Devils fan troll. Who'd a thunk he'd show up in a thread about two teams that have nothing to do with his favorite team.
That's me, anti ranger man. Notorious for going around and dumping on guys like Fox, Panarin, Kakko, and Shesterkin.

Thanks for your contribution to the thread.

But again, if we're doing a bit of a soft reboot, it's not about winning the trade today, it's about possibly hitting a homerun for down the road.

I'm not opposed to trying to get Laine depending on cost (both trade and upcoming contract) but I think gambling on a recent 1st overall isn't the worst call.
I agree! Part of a Miller package I assume or even Horvat.

Please dont trade laf unless its for Petty which would never happen.

His value is far from where it should be, only going to end up loosing the trade

Interesting bit of information. Gallant is big on players filling certain "roles." Top six LW roles are taken (Panarin and Kreider). None of the 3 LW's plays well/is comfortable on the RW. So Laf has been in the bottom six and is being asked to play a bottom six role. He doesn't take many chances. He focuses on defense and hitting. By instruction.

But this is just narrative, right? Believing what I want to believe, right? Did you ever wonder how a guy with 11 points in 41 games has a 16.7% shooting percentage? In 28 games this season, Laf has taken 1 or zero shots on goal. In those 28 games? He's scored 2 points. In the other 13 games, he put up 2 or more shots on goal. In those 13 games, he's put up 9 of his 11 points. That extrapolates out to 57 even strength points in an 82 game season. When he gets into a top six "role," this kid is going to shut some mouths in here.
Lmao.

This might be one of the funniest things I’ve ever read. Coping so hard.

And if I was one of best teams in the NHL, I would trade Podkolzin for a first line forward on a great contract ina heartbeat.

what’s your point?

My point is that if you treat laffy as just a 10 point guy after his draft plus 2 season then Podkozin is just a fourth line energy guy after his draft +3 season.

Just because the Rangers are one of the best teams in the league and Vancouver is one of the worst doesn't mean they should treat their prospect assets that differently.

Wait - I still don’t get your point.

How is this relevant? Fans are happy with Podkolzin’s output so far. Can you say the same for Lafreniere?

Lafreniere was supposed to be a generational talent. Pod is supposed to be a good top six forward. Why even compare the two? Makes no sense.

Podkozin is just the Canucks best prospect. Which is why I used him to compare to laffy. I know he's no where near laffy level, but there aren't really much comparable given the canucks' pool is dry.

I agree laffy hasn't met expectations so far but obviously he's only draft plus 2, so he has lots of career left to meet expectations.

Podkozin, I don't think is just a 20 point guy either, lots of years left.

Lafs value doesn't match who he is ATM. Being a former 1st overall pick makes him more valuable than he should be. The guy has shown nothing to warrant his current valuation.

I'd much rather target other players/prospects.

I completely understand why Rangers fans value him the way they do. But Canucks would be dumb to make him the center piece of any trade for Miller.

These boards are brutal when people post this. You honestly believe 1.5 years of J.T. Miller really holds more trade value than the 2020 1st overall?

I do, are you not trying to win the cup ? No better forward available the guy does everything. 1.5 years at 2.6 mill if the Nucks keep salary.

Look Laf is a great prospect and was a 1 OA. Had a good rookie season was on pace for 30/31 pts, only on pace for 21/82 this season.

Miller is over ppg, wins face offs, pk and pp and he also has an edge to his game.

Lol where's Torts when we need him to tell Brooksy off?

Lafreniere at this point would be a decent add-on but not the main piece, let alone demand Miller + 1st. Also it doesn't take much to create ungrounded rumors like this.

Miller and a first maybe

edit: I doubt the rangers want to get rid of a player that cheap but maybe they see something they don’t like and want to sell high
Lol good one. You're kidding yourself if you think the Canucks are throwing a first in to that trade. Canucks first is likely to be top 10, maybe even top 5. It would be straight up.

Miller is on another level right now and there's a bidding war for him.
