Can’t see any of this coming to fruition… I get the connection with castonguay but highly doubt rangers don’t ask for a lot inreturn. Don’t think Miller would be that. But hey I’ve been wrong before.

We'll take offers on Miller, Horvat, and Boeser.
But trading any of them one-for-one for Lafreniere is not very appealing imo.

I would imagine Horvat or Boeser would be NYR's ask here. It wouldn't be just for Lafreniere either but he'd be the meat of the package. I could see VAN massively overpaying and giving whatever NYR wants purely out of love interest for Laf. All in all I just see this as usual click-bait farming from Brooksie.

seriously don't count out Boeser in play here everyone seems to forget he was being discussed for awhile and suddenly it all just disappeared, not to mention NYR is in dire need of a goal-scoring RW

Sure they can run, but NYR would look like fools trading him so early

Am I the only one that doesn't think Lafreniere is worth shit?

I suggest a 2nd or maybe a young blue-chip with comparable upside but that upside and potential certainly isn't going to be that of a 1OV.

This is basically Brooks 'wondering' if this could happen, his words. Basically a non story.

it's funny how he also thinks if Rangers were to swap Laf with someone like Pettersson in a blockbuster deal, they couldn't find a way to make it work cap wise....

No way would I give up on Laf already for Horvat or Miller. It would have to be something built around Pettersson or Hughes. If it were for Horvat I would also want Podkolzin & Hoglander, probably still would rather not.

I know you're being sarcastic but youth & higher ceiling is worth more. I'd rather have Petey than Zibanejad or Kreider lol. They're not going to give up on their first 1st overall pick in franchise history at age 20 for a 2nd line center.

What I don’t get is why Vancouver are trying to trade Miller in the first place? All I hear is about how he’s their best forward and a great fit etc

We have no prospect depth thanks to the disastrous Benning era and aren't likely to be more than a playoff bubble for another year or two. So we're using Miller's value to essentially recover. In an ideal scenario, I'd much prefer to keep him but Benning was just that horrible.

As a Canucks fan I would probably entertain a Pettersson for Lafrenier + Kakko + Schneider.
If the offer was made I’m sure both teams would think hard. Rangers were trading up for him in the draft and had to settle for Anderson. Canucks only do this due to new management and zero ties. Rangers only do this if they think he will bounce back and become a top 10 player in the league.

I'm thrilled you would consider it. The silence you would hear wouldn't be the Rangers considering it, it would be them laughing too hard to speak.

The "first overall" shine is running out quick. If next year is disappointing, I don't think he can fetch more than a late first at that point in time.

With all the crazy hype around his minor league production (and comparisons to Crosby), I actually did some research and he's not even close to the top for career PPG in the QMJHL.

Ehlers, Radulov and Drouin all have higher career PPG in the Q.

Giroux and Lafreniere have similar QMJHL PPGs and yet Laffy was a generational prospect and Giroux was picked 22nd overall?

QMJHL is notoriously a weak league too. Laffy might be go down as one of the most overhyped prospects of all time if he continues his trajectory of a top six winger.

Canucks aren't trading Petey, so that part can be put to bed.

Regarding Laf, I have no problem with taking a gamble on that kind of talent. Yeah, he hasn't shown much yet but if he had he would be absolutely untouchabe.

I could see the Canucks offering Boeser and a 2nd, but the problem is that Boeser is RFA with a 7.5 million dollar QA.

But he would fit that team like a glove.
