Laffy isn't worth Miller. I know he is a recent 1oa, but he has done nothing to show he is worth that yet. Playing worse this year than he did last. For a goal scorer, the kid doesn't shoot/hit the net much. He isn't making up for it by putting up assists. Future potential only goes so far in trade value.
I definitely wouldn't trade Bo for him, Bo would be a TDL deal next season if he won't re-sign by then. But I don't see that being an option.

Miller and a first maybe

edit: I doubt the rangers want to get rid of a player that cheap but maybe they see something they don’t like and want to sell high
Wouldn’t they be selling low? He’s not doing much right?

I wouldn't trade Horvat if I was Vancouver.

Alvin can go sign Filip Forsberg who is proven that he can carry a team. He’ll make you forget Miller and Horvat. Mentor Peterson too. They’ll have a abundance of wingers to play with

This makes literally 0 sense for both sides. For the Rangers, why would you give up on this kid so early when everyone knows his potential is out of this world good. The Canucks on the other hand, would have to overpay to acquire him because of his agent being an AGM for the Canucks? Brooks is out to lunch on this one.

I mean, it makes sense considering Lafreniere's agent went to the Canucks and will probably make sure he gets a fair shot + contract.

Maybe do something surrounding Miller and Podkolzin+

Hoping this happens and Lafreniere can wear 11 to get the ick of Messier out of the organization.
Too much for Laf.

I really don't give a damn that Lafreniere was a first overall pick.

Nolan Patrick was a recent second overall pick and he went for peanuts.

Kotkaniemi was a recent third overall pick and MTL didn't match their offersheet for a first and a third (late picks).

So far Laffy been a major bust... I really don't think he holds value of 3 1st round picks (equivalent to what JT Miller will likely get at the deadline).

I really don't think the Canucks are willing to gamble their prized asset for a massive question mark. A bad JT Miller return is going to set this team back 2-3 years.

JT Miller rental will not return anywhere close to 3 first round picks haha. A 1st and a decent prospect maybe.

As an Islanders fan I absolutely do not want to see the Rangers swap Lafreniere for Horvat. Horvat is everything the Rangers should want in a 2nd line center complement to Zibjaneadaeadedsed and much better than Strome. Superior defensive player, just as good a passer and lights out in the FO circle, doesn't shy away from contact at all.

Vancouver gets some magic beans for their captain. Cap is a problem but the Rangers can just tell Trouba to give up his NMC...

If I'm the Canucks I wouldn't be trading Miller or Horvat. If they can both be re-signed I'd be moving Petterson for Laf + a haul. Let the Rangers try to win in the playoffs with his soft play.

Only assets on Vancouver that return Lafreniere are Pettersson and Hughes. But Rangers cannot afford either unless Canucks are taking cap back. Might be a 2+2=22 rumor because of Lafreniere’s agent but this isn’t exactly what I would call cut and dry

Hahahah.

how do you say you don’t watch the Canucks or the Rangers without saying you don’t watch the Canucks or Rangers.

If Laff was picked in the 2nd round, rangers would be ++ but riding 1OA is adding nonsense expected value

Horvat is good but his d-game is definitely not superior. Not a shut down guy. Not sure why ppl say this.

But the Rangers are also not super motivated to deal Lafreniere. Player still has plenty of time. Not exactly like Vancouver has a ton of amazing assets either. Nothing wrong with wanted to protect your guys but If Vancouver wants Lafreniere they are going to have to pay up.

Nobody is going to "pay up" for someone who has 11 points in 41 games.

The 1OA shine has been long gone. Is it possible he's just not as good as advertised?

Would love this. Laf is worth taking this type of a risk on - I don't think he's Nolan Patrick Pt 2 at all. Patrick had a ton of injury problems that derailed his career.

i dont really understand the logistics behind it. Why would the Rangers want to give up on a #1 overall pick 2 years in? And why would Vancouver trade their captain for him?

idk but would be interesting
Because the Rangers are legit contenders and a player like Horvat could be the missing piece and can be resigned.

Of course it’s possible that he isn’t as good as advertised. But the opposite can be true too. Rangers are lousy at developing young forwards and haven’t put him in a position to succeed. Both things can be true.

all I am saying is the Rangers won’t simply give him away regardless on if his has lost some shine or not. So yeah, Lafreniere could be better, but Vancouver would also need to pay up.
