Man, if it would be Horvat...

I haven't watched him closely lately but that's a great player, no?

Although Lafs ceiling is still very high

Horvat is a beast. Leads the league in face-ofss. His 2 way game is over-rated tho imo as a die hard Canuck fan.

However he is most definitely clutch , shows up in playoffs and can probably pot you 25-30 goals while playing against the other teams best forward line.

Rangers would do well to get rid of Laff now if they think he is a bust like Nolan Patrick. Patrick was held on too long and returned very very little once the league figured out he is a bust.
Didn't Patrick have major injury issues though? That had to factor into things.

That makes it worse for Laffy that he has no excuse for what seems like a lack of skating explosion or capability to be worthy of a number 1 overall.

I think he will improve and can be a decent top 6, maybe top 9 on a very deep team. However I dont think he will live up to number 1 overall status.

Do you really want your agent to be the part of the organization? I can imagine wanting more money while the agent is also cap crunching for the organization.

He’s in a weird spot where his stock is too low to be worth a huge haul and if they sell him low now and he turns it around it would disaster trade for rangers.

Please no, Bo and huggy are the last players I would trade. I don’t even care about the return, I think we need his experience bulldozing his way on the team from the 4th line. I bet he’s an incredible influence on guys like Podkolzin, who have to earn their dues.

Brooks pulls stuff out of his @$$ every now and then. I think the idea he’s going to get moved to the Canucks because of his agent is silly and speculative.

That being said, this is a strange year for the Rangers. Hes stuck behind Kreider and Panarin on the depth chart, they need a Top 6 RW and another Center in the worst way, and they’re ahead of schedule on their rebuild, but do they really want to start moving major assets to start taking shots at a cup run?

She is no longer anyones agent, she gave that up when she took the Canucks AGM job.

Way too soon to give up on a player with Lafreniere potential. Only way you move him is if internally you feel he’s not going to be an elite player + you get an offer too good to turn down.

What I don’t get is why Vancouver are trying to trade Miller in the first place? All I hear is about how he’s their best forward and a great fit etc

LOL?

It's called re-buildinng/re-tooling... not exactly a foreign concept in sports? Might be a foreign concept in New York?

I expect that one of Boeser, Miller or Horvat will be dealt for futures. We need to shuffle the deck a bit, create some cap flexibility and rebuild our prospect pool. Like JR said, being a non playoff team and at the cap is a bad situation.

Personally I'd far rather see us deal Horvat or Boeser than Miller. Miller far better than either, and far more versatile. I think the reasons why he is "more" on the block that the other two is age, cost to re sign, and far greater return.

I think it's a huge mistake. I don't think the Canucks are too far off, and as soon as we are competing, we will need a JT Miller on our team.

I mean, it makes sense considering Lafreniere's agent went to the Canucks and will probably make sure he gets a fair shot + contract.

Maybe do something surrounding Miller and Podkolzin+

Hoping this happens and Lafreniere can wear 11 to get the ick of Messier out of the organization.
