I assumed the Petes part was a reference to the Peterborough Petes OHL team.
I love the pace and speed of the game. I think the lack of physicality at times is the step down.
But I still think it is the best sport in the world even with an evolution away from the rugged version I probably prefer most.
I also don't necessarily mind that the third and fourth line guys aren't pure knuckle-chuckers that cannot actually keep up.
They are very different eras, but parts of the game are absolutely there that still made me love it like when I was a kid the first time I ever saw it and keeps me coming back.
Super teams have always existed and how these ones are being formed will also pass and we will have an issue with the next iteration that causes them to happen in a way that seems unnatural.
Smart teams and businesses always find their advantage and need a little luck that is life. We need some things to smile on us and we need to be in a position to take advantage of it when it does happen.
I get the frustration, but that top 5 pick was for a D, and there is no way Larkin was ever going to accept a trade to Chicago. That trade was never coming our way.you have to go for picks here. You aren’t getting good value in roster players for Larkin. We should have been involved in this draft but now I think it’s too late. Might as well hold on to him until next years draft. Top 5 picks were on the board and we missed out
Serious question—
How many teams league-wide are in a worse spot than us?
I was considering doing a poll for this to see what people think.
Pretty tough to answer with the Larkin thing hanging in the air. Is the Byram value indicative of the trade market? We had 6 more points, but more importantly, who's trajectory do you like more?
His name is Paul Petes? PP?
I'd do it. Could attract a young center even(maybe not this year) to come play between Raymond/Robertson or... IF a sperate move is made for Pettersson you can argue the top lines maybe got better...Gotta assume it'd be Larkin for Robo.
Could Robo/Raymond/Cat/Kane hide the offensive deficiencies our centermen have?
I think the speed of today's game has taken some of the hitting out of the game. Guys just can't recover in time anymore. I recently re watched old Wings and Avs playoff games and guys were throwing hits and falling down all over the place. How many times have we all sighed watching Chiarot go for a big hit, and then take himself out of the play unnecessarily. It's maybe my favorite sport to watch on TV, baseball is my favorite for going to in-person.
The game seems more frenetic than in the past, but I don't like how little physical play there is, and less passing/skill. It feels like so much of hockey is chuck and run, and part of the reason I watched the playoffs and didn't come away impressed with most of it.
And for how much people complained about the us, the devils, etc. and our systems back in the day, I think it's only gotten worse. I think guys are so glued into their systems now that it is part of the reason we see less physicality. No one wants to leave their designated spot to throw a hit.
And if there is a big hit people lose their minds over it.
I'd also give away the fourth lines that skate and play D for more knuckle chuckers. On entertainment value, give me the fighters. It might be different if the modern fourth lines would routinely take the body, but they don't.

I don't know, will Compher outhit Kane next season?Gotta assume it'd be Larkin for Robo.

It would just be a waste with the centers we have . I’d rather have Dallas get involved with Anaheim Utah Montreal etc.. and get package with likes of hage McQueen Desnoyers solberg but zharovsky etc…Gotta assume it'd be Larkin for Robo.

But anyways. We have good young defensemen and no centers.
They have good young centers and no defensemen.
They just lost their 4th leading scorer and their 5th leading scorer is 34. Alex Nedeljkovic was their best goalie last year and otherwise have a hopeful goalie prospect who has struggled so far.
So yeah, as far as we have to go, I'm not going to sit here being envious of a team that was worse than us.
They need to afford Robertson and we could help with thatIf it is Dallas, its...what? Robertson? Bourque? Bichsel? They don't have picks to speak of nor do I think that would be the goal of the Wings... Hemming maybe?
I had the same initial thought, well "who the f*** is Paul?"Who is Paul?
Or they just need to give us Robertson. We can afford him. They need to afford Robertson and we could help with that
This guy gets it. Make your own luck.Or they just need to give us Robertson. We can afford him.
Don't be afraid to aim for the moon. Even if you miss, you still tried.
If he asks for 14 , so be it, we just need to sign Ed . One for one will be good for both teamsOr they just need to give us Robertson. We can afford him.

I think the big player in the return will be Harley or something with Bischel and Bourque in it if we are after something with Dallas.Gotta assume it'd be Larkin for Robo.
