It’s uncommon. But this is exactly the kind of draft it would happen in.I would be shocked if Hutson comes out as the best player of the 2022 draft. When is the last time that achievement went to the guy drafted #62?

Kirill KaprizovLuke Robitaille was drafted in 9th round, Doug Gilmour in the 7th. There are some memorable players picked in later rounds. Regarding best 3rd picks among defensemen, probably Kris Letang and Adam Fox. Shayne Gotisbehere is not too shabby.
Why? Engels' analytical skills are no better than the average HFboarder, maybe worse TBH. Nothing but a media whore.
I’d call it uncommon but not rare.Kucherov went 58th.
Datsyuk went 7th round.
Zetterberg went 6th round.
It's actually not all that uncommon for the best players in a draft to not be picked in the 1st round.

Kucherov in 11.
Unless you are asking when someone specifically drafted at 62, then probably never
Hutson reportedly has had a growth spurt and BU now reports him to be 5'10

What's interesting about the club right now is they have three forwards that can drive lines effectively: Monahan, Suzuki, and Caufield.globalnews.ca
"The latest is that Hutson is now five-foot 10-inches tall. This measurement is from his college at Boston University, and the simple truth is those numbers are not always reliable. However, it might just be the case that Hutson has grown a full two inches in a year.
There is a recent photo taken from ice level at Boston University where Hutson is standing right beside Macklin Celebrini who is the consensus pick for number one in this upcoming draft. Celebrini is listed at six-foot exactly. On the other side of the post-goal celebration is Jeremy Willmer who is listed at five-foot, eight inches
Hutson looks nearly identical in height to Celebrini, and he towers over Willmer. It might just be that Hutson is six-foot, 11 inches now(sic) (I assume he meant 5'11")
Are you saying he was the best player in the 2015 draft which I think is the general discussion, best player in a given draft ended up not coming from the first round. Kaprizov is not the best player in his draft, heck a lot of people would argue that he is not even in he top 5 of his draft year.
I would say the 2011 draft. Kucherov was selected at #58 and Gaudreau was selected at #104 (Johnny would of been selected higher, but size concerns dropped him down the board)I would be shocked if Hutson comes out as the best player of the 2022 draft. When is the last time that achievement went to the guy drafted #62?

that is the service I have been providing HF for 20+ years!Yeah, I don't understand why we are to automatically assume that insiders have valuable insight about the game of hockey.
They are two different things. Bieksa is insightful but not an insider. Engles is not insightful but he is somewhat of an insider (for the Habs at least). Rarely do you see someone who is both.
GROWTH SPURT ALERT
On pace to be the biggest player in nhl history LFGSlightly less small if true
5'10" is close to 5'11"...which is basically 6foot...and after 6 comes 7...Hutson reportedly has had a growth spurt and BU now reports him to be 5'10
Pavelski from legendary 2003 draft class has to be in the conversation w Bergeron with best of that draft cuvéeKucherov went 58th.
Datsyuk went 7th round.
