yes, do you understand how anything works? That is the shooting percentage of his team when he’s on the ice. Obviously that will impact his assist total.

Last game he put a picture perfect pass on to Mercer’s stick to spring him for a breakaway, which he missed. Didn’t get a point. Who cares?
Exactly. No one.

*I thought on ice shooting % was a personal stats and not overall on ice team stats. First time I’m hearing that. Care to link me to that particular stats and it’s definition?

You tell me.

Hutson is playing 25 minutes a night against top competition, no PP1 while Montreal is clearly better when he’s on the ice then when he’s not and you’ve got Devils fans coming in telling us how he should be playing in the AHL
Who said that?

Does his 1.3% on ice shooting also affects his primary and secondary assists total?
On ice shooting % significantly effects his primary and secondary assist totals yes. It is in fact quite literally one of the biggest factors.

At what point does expectations has to become results? « He’s expected to do X but has Y results »
Significantly more than 10 games hope this helps. dmen have little impact on their on ice shooting % results

Blaming Luke Hughes for shitty shooting luck through 10 games? Not even his shooting, but his forwards shooting. Is your claim that Luke Hughes is putting voodoo magic on his forwards?

He’s getting hugely favorable deployments and competition and still can’t rack up points. At least his team/teammates around him are doing well so his advanced stats looks good.
Luke Hughes has more dzone starts than ozone starts, not that it is particularly relevant.

4 high danger passes matters more to you than all of the on ice chances being measured and valued? Lmao.

Hutson has gotten great goaltending behind him and good shooting luck in front of him.

Exactly. No one.

on ice shooting% = total on ice goals/total on ice shots

Of course this can be isolated to any/all situations.

Eg seperating EV from PP, since PP shots in general have a better chance of going in than EV shots

"Great goaltending" is an .898 sv% at 5 on 5?

Just look at the post above mine.

If some Hab's fan's stopped baiting Devils fan's it wouldn't happen.

Honestly though I have yet to see a Devils fan say he isn't going to be an NHL player or is terrible. Most are very complimentary of him, They are Just pointing out faults and criticisms about the player. Unless Hutson is a perfect player and has no faults I don't see why some Hab's fans are so defensive.
Lmao yeah I'm sure it's all one sided

Yes, great goaltending, especially compared to what his peers in MTL have gotten. You can be lower on MTLs goalies if you want, but that would also apply to the other dmen and the end result would be the same.

MTL gives up a ridiculous amount of high danger chances.

15.2 xGoals against, 10.5xGoals for.

MTL fans complaining about his forwards not burying for him with a 12.3% 5v5 on ice shooting% is wild btw.

To once again bring up seamus casey.

He was 3-1 in 5v5 goal share. But he was getting outshot and outchanced significantly, just like hutson is.

Personally I don't judge dmen based on the goaltending behind them or the shooting in front of them.

I get it's been like a decade since you guys have seen great goaltending, but it's not sub-900.

Do you think Hutson's point pace will increase or decrease by the end of the season?

I'm curious, what is Luke total GF/GA while he's on the ice this year through 10 games?

Hutson has gotten great goaltending behind him and good shooting luck in front of him.
C. Primeau: 4.68GAA 0.845 SV%
S. Montembeault: 3.42GAA 0.890 SV%

How is that great goaltending?

on ice shooting% = total on ice goals/total on ice shots

Absolutely agree. What I'm seeing is someone who - when on the ice - cannot effectively support his forwards and doesn't create good enough scoring chances. Most likely the low on-ice shot % is due to his teammates shooting from low-scoring angles and therefore not being able to generate enough despite being on a Stanley Cup contender team.

Well, to be fair, he's got the puck more often than not on his stick (#3 in the league per 60 behind Makar and Hughes) and generates chances and passing lanes for his teammates through his head fakes and agility. He's also up to 5 posts so far this season - but still goaless.

The on ice is 1.4%
His personal shooting % is zero as he hasn’t scored.

The chances MTL gives up are ridiculous.

And maybe great wasn't the best word.

Hutson has gotten significantly better goaltending behind him than any of the other MTL dmen. And the goalies should have allowed more goals behind him than they have.

His point pace will increase if he gets moved to PP1.

I expect his on ice shooting% to drop. Can he increase his chance generation to counteract that? maybe.

Good thing there is a stat that measures the quality of these chances based on angles and location and 15 other factors. It's called expected goals.

Player with 10 shots 5v5 mostly from the perimeter is goalless, huge if true.

I think you missed the part where he hit multiple posts lmao

If Hutson was in the Devils organization he'd be down in the minors too.

Dude should be in the minors for his development, he's getting bullied out there.

When Reinbacher is back him and Hutson would be excellent together in the minors. They could develop properly and, when ready, come up.

Let's just say EV - He doesn't play much PP or PK anyway, does he?

Yeah, the same stats that showed in one of the game where Montreal got absolutely destroyed that they only gave 6 high scoring danger chances and only 3 giveaways when they gave more than that in the first 5 minutes of the game. I remember even the commentator laughing about it halfway through the game.

Wait, I thought it was a team-based stats while he was on the ice?

I wasn't aware of that. I thought it was strictly a personal stats.
Some ppl are saying hutson is a top 2-10 pick in redraft, maybe they are just evening out the craziness
They're not far off. Probably closer to 10 but it's not an insane take to have to say that Hutson would be a top 10 pick in a re-draft.

2 of those are leafs fans

the 3rd did not say he should be in the AHL.

It said he would be in NJD. Which is a true statement, since he would not be in the lineup and NJD isn't going to just sit a top prospect in the press box.

Wrong. One is a Philly fan, one is a Leafs fan and one is a NJ fan. Also, I went back 3 pages only, I know others said it too.

Also, there is no NHL teams right now that would sit Hutson. That's just maniac.

Slaf the next Jagr, Suzuki > Stutzle, Demidov > Michkov, and Hutson > L.Hughes/Nemec

NHL should just shut down from 2027 - 2035 bc the Habs are apparently the greatest young team in NHL history and will win all the Cups

Might as well, yeah

Only one of those posters is a NJ fan. Beyond that, people speak for themselves. "NJ fans" as some sort of big group don't have a conspiracy against Hutson. I'm sure there are a few overly harsh critics as there are for most young players (like someone revenge criticizing Luke Hughes to try to make a point) but the argument is kept up by a handful of posters at most.

1. Fatass isn't a Devils fan that I can tell from looking at his history

2. Lou is God post is more about the Devils depth then anything else, Lane would be battling for Luke Hughes spot which Hutson might be able to do but I wouldn't bet on it.

3. Headlice is a flyers fan via Michkov if I had to guess.

without Context I agree that 2. is a bit mean spirited.

Who do you think would go before him in a redraft? Just curious!!
It's way to early to put him in top 10 imo he has played 15 games, that is enough to jump 45 spots? He could be easily top 10 in a few years but right now idk how one can say that without even seeing most of the players drafted before him in the NHL

I wasn't aware of that. I thought it was strictly a personal stats.

I just disagree with the redraft stuff, I like what hutson has done but I want to see guys like Mateychuk and Rinzel in the pros. Do you think he is already better than Mintyukov?
