The buyout looks almost as ugly as the contract.

Okay but Quick's save percentage last night was even worse than Petersen's.

That said like everyone else I wonder how the hell he is making $5 million a year based on.. nothing at all.

Petersen has been awful, but this timing makes it look like he's being made the scapegoat for last night, even though he wasn't the one who allowed the first 5 goals and he had higher save percentage in the game than the one who did.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
Imagine giving a new deal not even after a year and you waive him right after

and yet you still have a job. How pro scouts GM and AGM (LOL Bergevin) Made such a bad move when every fans on this board knew it was just some kind of fluke.

Being a GM is literally the dream job

I feel like a move is coming. Who is available for cheap? Nedeljkovic, maybe Blackwood. Varly has a $5M AAV but all are UFA at season's end.

Didn't he have a good season before signing the contract? Seems like it was a "hope he continues playing well and improving as a starter" kinda deal that backfired, always a chance those deals do.

But the fact it's only a 3 year deal is pretty good, they didn't go full dumb and give him a 5-8 year contract.

Ahhh, the ol', "someone please take him and his contract away" waiver play. How often does one of those fishing expeditions actually pan out?

Though in this case, it does seem like they're probably fully prepared to send him down to the AHL when he clears, to try to get his game back in some semblance of order.

Definitely one of those sort of projection "gamble" contracts, hoping he'll continue trending out from a smallish sample size. At a really unpredictable/volatile position. And it's backfired pretty badly.

I feel that they want to give their AHL goalies (Villalta and Copley) opportunities as Quick's backup. At the end of the year, if one of them hasn't run with it and Petersen hasn't gotten his game together in the AHL, then they might look outside the organization for a goaltender over the Summer.
