Who doesn't cater to that fan? The whole.league has become nicer in order to get more fans who don't want the violence that angers up the blood...and actually makes rivalries fun.

If the Kings can't actually sell out the building when things aren't great, rhey have to fill that empty space. If you can hook one new diehard for every 25 casuals, or whatever the ratio, is that worth it? As annoying as they are, have the Kings lost any diehards because of the dog calendars or cupcakes or whatever else?

I haven't gone to a single game since the 14 Finals. Used to go to at least 20 a year, they lost my revenue due to the presentation being unbearable.

I know of at least 6 loooooooong term season ticket holders that cancelled for the same reasons. Its a shitty experience.

It's one of the reasons I didn't renew as well. They kept jacking up prices and the presentation got worse and worse. I kind of felt bad for the in-game team, with all the strange stuff they had them doing. It just got too obnoxious, blaring headache-inducing music and so on. It started reminding me of very early Ducks games at the pond in the first couple of seasons, which isn't good.

THG is a good listen when you don't want to read every single hockey news alert that shows up on your phone and you want a tiny bit of context or opinion to go with it. It at least informs me of what generally is happening around the league without me having to read about it. I can work on something else and just listen. It's like when I used to listen to the KNX sports updates at the 15th minute of the hour before the internet took over.

Same here. The last goal I saw in person was Martinez' Stanley Cup winner. Live LA Kings games are a shitty experience.

Personally, I go to Kings games to watch hockey. I don't give an eff about some post whistle entertainment. Sometimes the music makes me tap my toe other times it doesn't. When they want to chuck a tee shirt at me, I'll try and catch it. During intermission I'll watch the human bowling as I eat my hotdog and talk about the game. When we are walking back to the car/driving home we talk about the game not the entertainment experience.

Last game I went to was the 8-2 playoff loss to the Oilers.

The in-arena audio was terrible. You couldn't even understand what the PA announcer was saying.

Also, the crowds at Crypto/Staples suck nowadays. Regardless if it's a sell out or not, the enthusiasm of the attendees is nowhere near as high as it was in the pre-cup days.

I miss how raucous and loud Kings fans used to be. Winning cups made us less hungry.

I don’t see why anyone would have an issue with this video. There’s nothing wrong with the gist of his information. He aggregated the questions and points about the Kings cohesively.

The video is spot on for the most part.

Rookies were bad

If these three things get better then the Kings are sitting pretty.

If they get worse somehow I can easily see them falling apart too.

Very good video for hockey fans. Makes four videos a day. Really good content for a guy who obviously puts a lot of time pushing out content. And you’d think the quality would suck but it doesn’t. Better than most imo.

Still waiting for a person affiliated with the Kings to make critical content like the Rosen/Hammond era

To be fair I just started paying attention to your content in the off-season. I haven’t seen any negative critique yet since I’ve been paying attention to you more. But if you are then that’s great. If there’s only “good”perspectives being presented then that perspective is useless since it’s devoid of criticism.

If you’re actually critical then that’s awesome especially since you are doing the one thing that the GOATS haven’t. Interacting with people on the biggest hockey forum in the world. You’ve given good insight for sure which is why I respect you being on here a lot.

If there’s some negative content I will love you even more.

I loved Jon Rosen because he went scorched earth on the Kings and we were all here for it because we felt like we were being heard. I’ll never forget the amazing tweets, and articles from Rosen. Especially when the Kings were bombing games he made some hilarious crass tweets that made you feel he wasn’t a bootlicker

If it makes you feel any better... I was recently asked by some of the higher ups a few questions about what kind of content we do and don't provide and I specifically mentioned the fact that we don't ever offer critical commentary.

It's a tough ask because theoretically there's no reason a team "SHOULD" offer up critical commentary about it's own product... but the market doesn't provide it in a way that other markets do so the question (in my mind if not on my resume) becomes "are we doing the best job we can to fill the void in the fan experience"

If we were the Dodgers or the Lakers and went on a losing streak we wouldn't need to address it because the local radio/tv/papers would cover it.

So what obligation do we have to be all things to all people?

these are conversations that, believe it or not, DO happen around the office

I appreciate that but I really do think that people who grab a platform for themselves should hold themselves up to SOME kind of standard.

Just wanting someone to pay attention to you shouldn't be the justification for demanding their attention.

Jesse is not critical for the sake of stirring shit up. He just calls it like he sees it. He hates the same crap most people hate and is sometimes as honestly surprised by what he sees (like the Kings making the playoffs last year) as most of us are.
