You’re right about a lot of thing and I don’t disagree conceptually. Why I disagree is that. Doughty is on his way out, Roy is not good offensively. Clarke is the only tool for the near future. I am not very high on Roy just to give you my bias.

That’s why I heavily favor 2 way dmen right now because we can’t score on offense and our defenseman suck.

I’m not for one dimensional players unless they’re extremely good in that on dimension.

That’s why I want Edler gone, that’s why I want Walker gone, that’s why I want Bjornfot gone. What he brings is just not good enough to justify how one dimensional he is. If he had any bite in his game I’d be much more interested in keeping him. I don’t want more p***yes on this team.

If we can get Bjornfot + gone for Soucy I’d absolutely do it.

Bjornfot is a p***y. I am sick and tired of p***yes on this team.
Edler was better offensively, defensively, and physically than Durzi. Not surprising for a vet vs a rookie.

I'm not sold on Durzi. I'm not sure how he will play with actual expectations. I've seen too many rookies that never play as well as their rookie year.

I don’t think Durzi did bad at all for the position and responsibility he was given. I think he did well and his game began dwindling as you can expect for a rookie being given such a prominent role
And heavily leaned on.

I solely want edler gone because he’s a massive
Liability in the playoffs and it shows. He was the worst dman by far.

Players with significant leg injuries usually come back the following year significantly better than when they came back during the season. I think we see Edler look more like he did at the beginning of last season rather than at the end, and I think Byfield takes a huge step forward this year.

I fully agree here.
Why Edler was signed again is far beyond me.
On the other hand, we ride out Kopitar and Doughty's contratcs anyways, so it doesn't matter who is on the roster

Kings need someone who can answer on defense. As simple as that.
Don’t get carried away thinking that Soucy could be the Kings enforcer. He’s not a good fighter. He fights because he can land a big hit, so he has to answer the bell. For a guy with his size and reach his fist scare no one.

You get Soucy not because you “need someone who can answer on defense”. You get Soucy because he is highly effective at his position. He’s hard to score on, and he pops in quite a few goals for a bottom pairing guy. He’s not gonna drop the gloves more than a couple times a year.

Everyones gloves are glued on so a couple times a year is a big deal.

Not at 36.

I legit don’t want Edler on this team. He provides nothing but intangibles and a silver beard. He has no footspeed and constantly gets walked.

Get rid of Edler, Walker, Bjornfot.
Bring in Spence and Soucy.

What’s happened with this cheap site? Cheap ass bitches running this site it seems.
Ok, so I’m not the only one seeing that shit.. and yet I get a warning for saying F U C K

This is pretty cool. Even Dean is there.

10 years?

That was like 3 years ago.

Soucy: 2.75 UFA
Björnfot: 0.90

Bjorn plays a lot of games for 900k. There is good value there even if people don't like his game. The King's have a cap crunch due to vet contracts. Swapping Björnfot for Soucy won't work with the cap when the King's are already going to struggle to fit Mikey & Durzi under the cap.

Edler is a short term patch to get through next season with no cap. On the Left the King's have Mikey & Bjorn. They need to add another LD, not trade one away.

Soucy is a UFA & as a rental shouldn't fetch much over A 1st & a blah prospect in even the most insane deadline frenzy.

Swapping Soucy for Walker makes sense cap wise though.

Whilst resigning Edler is a reasonable debate it was stated that he came back before he was 100% last season.

Don’t sleep on Bjornfot. He has a damn high ceiling and is barely old enough to buy a beer. He’s not small, either, he is bigger than Durzi already and hasnt even filled out.

Yeah, he had a pretty bad nagging injury but he should take a step this year.

"Don't sleep on Grundstrum" -- high five
He also correctly points out Kempe and Danault having career goal scoring years last season, which likely won't happen again. Guys like Fiala, Byfield, and Kaliyev are going to have to pick up that slack.

Of course that means McLellan will actually have to play Byfield and Kaliyev in situations where they can contribute more offensively. That translates to cutting Kopitar's PP time and giving some of it to them.

Kempe is only 25. I don't think it's unreasonable to think he finally broke out and should put up similar numbers over the next few years, rather than saying last year was atypical for him thus far, and thus he must perforce go back to the numbers of his prior years - when he averaged 25% fewer minutes a game and played with worse linemates. I know everyone is required to be conservatively pessimistic around here, but I think context matters....
