Calgary selling means it's a bit more likely LA still makes the playoffs.

Seems unlikely we'll be selling.

As uninspired as the Kings have looked, it would still be pretty hard for one of STL, CAL or MIN to pass them.

The Kings still have an easy schedule so they're going to put together a run. It's just not something that should turn into trading assets for players.

Newsflash: 'some fans', just like all fans, have ZERO say in the rebuild path an organization decides to take. So whether or not an individual has patience has no impact either way.

I understand, unlike some fans, why a professional sports organization (which is a BUSINESS) would choose not to tear down entirely and build from the ground up.

(Hasn't Buffalo been doing that exact thing you speak of for like the last 15 years with ZERO success?)

So why are teams rebuilding all the time? You say AEG doesn't want to rebuild, yet they ok'ed a tear-down rebuild 18 years ago, which brought the team it's most successful era ever. Why would they be so against trying the same thing now? Why have som many other teams gone through tear-down rebuilds before if it's such a disaster business idea?

Businesses take losses in the short-term to gain in the long-term all the time, you act like it's unheard of.

You and GBH love to cite Buffalo as an example, but we can give you multiple examples of places it's resulted in great success. Nobody is saying it's a guarantee to winning a Stanley Cup, just that it's a much more proven path than what the Kings are doing, which hasn't worked in a capped NHL.
Here's my problem with it. And If I am wrong in my assumption let me know, but you want to be high lottery pick team...for 3-4 years, let's assume starting with the Byfield pick right, then keep doing that, but you ALSO bitch and moan to high heaven that LA can't develop correctly, (again, you being general) so...if the Kings absolutely suck balls at developing, why in the world would you want them to lose to get high picks, if they can't develop them.

That's what I am reading from "collective" you, in that regards, you have no faith in Kings developing players, but you want them to lose, to collect high end talent, that you have no faith they will develop....

1. The higher you draft the more likely the player is to be plug and play and less likely to be damaged or slowed by poor choices regarding the AHL affiliate.

2. The worse the team is the more opportunity and freedom the player has to grow into a key role. One of the big problems with QB was that he wasn't good at playing C and since the team is foolishly trying to contend he was not given the freedom to improve at that position because it was going to cost the team in the standings. So they moved him to wing where his God-given talents helped the team in the immediate, but lessened his chances of developing into an elite C. Kopitar and Doughty were not brought into environments where the team was expected to contend, and they were allowed to grow and get better without fear of mistakes costing the team playoff seeding. It's easier to develop players in that environment than the environment the Kings have attempted the last 3 years.

Again, tell me if I am wrong, but I think you are holding onto the old standard of C-LW-RW, vs how the game is adapting to 3 F's and 2D etc, positions are only relative when you are stationary after a faceoff, then it's all relative to where you are in regards to the puck

Never understood the idea or thought that AEG wouldn't approve a rebuild again. They did already though right? Wasn't that what 2017-2020 was about until Doughty started whining? AEG seemed totally fine with tearing it all down until the summer of 2021.

If we can revenue down to Panthers level, we could maybe get AEG to commit to a proper rebuild!

Until then, not a chance.

They were fine until COVID smashed their gate receipts worldwide. Time for that playoff revenue.

Why bother with this remedial argument? They don't care about logic, they don't understand common sense. This is just about a couple of people getting their jollies by antagonizing people online. There is no argument that will help. You could stand out of the way, say nothing, and allow what is going to happen to happen abd they would STILL argue about it.

Its just a waste of everybody's time to indulge them.

y'all ever read the parable of the Tiger and the Donkey?

(it's just a coincidence that it's a donkey... this isn't some kind of tacit approval of Bernsteain calling people Donkeys)
