You know you're holding your franchise accountable if your big move is to get rid of your AHL teams business ops dude
Yes, they are holding them accountable for the best regular season in Leafs history by keeping them.

Hard to say what happened here until we see where Paliafito and Gilman end up next. People are generally allowed to go in peace if its a promotion. We'll see.

Gilman is still with the team. Paliafito and Charron have left or were let go. Though the thread is about a Kyper's rumour that Gilman will leave.

They must have won the presidents trophy if they were that good!!

What about a playoff round?
No, they didn't win the President's trophy. They were also eliminated 4 games to 3 in the first round this year.

I am solidly pro Shanahan and Dubas but let’s not exaggerate. This was not the best team in Leafs history. Either the 47-48 or 62-63 teams are the best candidates for that title. Both those teams were first in the regular season and also won the Cup. And they were dotted with Hall of Fame players. (For example all three centers on both teams made the Hall.)

Now, I think it is possible that the present team’s core is the most talented in Leaf history but they have to win something big to be the best in Leaf history.

Roberts. Sundin. Mogliny
Tucker. R eichel. Nolan
Poni. Newy. Antropov
Domi. Francis. Fitz

Leetch. McCabe
Kaberle. Klee.
Berg. Cola.

Belfour

Was the deepest and best team in my lifetime.

more coming

Briere and maybe their medical staff makes some sense, especially whoever is responsible for goalies. Andersen was barely healthy his last two years here sue to his groin area. Mrazek goes from 0 career groin injuries to 3 in one season with us? Woll has been facing groin injuries. Scott has not been able to play for 3 years due to a hip injury.

I don't think is is a coincidence that a perfectly healthy goalie suddenly becomes injury prone as soon as they get here.

I could see them adding some scouts. A few have left over the last couple of years and they haven't really added any. Other than that, they will likely keep some room open for Spezza to fill some kind of role.

People also tend to forget the Conn Smythe era Leafs always had strong farm systems, deep teams that emphasized the grit and two way play more than individual talent and were maybe a bit more like the Lamoriello Devils or modern day Bruins or Blues than a big individual star power driven team.

Nothing has happened to Gilman at this point. He is still a AGM with the Leafs.

ya at how much better the team is now than it was 4 yrs ago. He should be happy with the progress.
0 Playoffs series won. You can argue he should not be fired, but there's been zero progress where it matters most.

I would love if they axed Briere and tried to bring back Piero Greco in an elevated role. Guy is a goalie whisperer. Every team he has been a part of the past 15 years has finished at or near the top of the league in SV% except for 1 in Owen Sound. That includes a Marlies goaltending group that had a trio of Sparks/Bibeau/Gibson.

What? Mrazek was injury prone prior to coming to Toronto and Same with Andersen. Andersen had trouble staying healthy in Anaheim and that trend has obviously continued in Carolina. Mrazek has been injured at every stop of his career as well. I think it has more to do with the players compared to the medical staff. Our medical staff seems to be pretty good, our guys recover from long term injury pretty well. Matthews and Marner had significant injuries this year (Matthews at the start with surgery & Marner around Christmas) both came back and looked amazing. Both Muzzin and Kase both returned from concussions looking alright!

The top of the management structure will remain intact. In addition to Dubas, Brandon Pridham, and team president Brendan Shanahan, we can confirm that Laurence Gilman will be sticking around as assistant GM and senior vice president of the Marlies.

Gilman has been in the mix for GM jobs in recent years. He was reportedly a leading candidate for the Vancouver Canucks GM job, which ultimately went to Patrik Allvin.

They are the same first round losers they were when they played Washington in 2017 but at least that team had the inexperience narrative to fall back on.

These Dubas teams are just straight-losers, as evidenced by the past three years choking to Montreal and Columbus in a playoff qualifier.

Yikes!

Only in a delusion have they progressed any further than that.

Wasting all of those $11M/year seasons from JT/Matthews/Marner...

What a pity.

That's why you don't entrust a budding superstar team to a former stick boy.

Lesson learned I guess.

A very costly lesson for millions of fans out there.
