Pretty minor. Execs like that leave all the time for other opportunities.

Not sure why they moved him away from the Marlies so quickly though. Feels like he was only there for a couple seasons before they "promoted" him to hire Hardy.

I wonder if they make more changes to the Marlies coaching/managing staff.

I get Pridham and Gillman mixed up, not sure that I should care that Gillman is leaving.
In fact lets bring in a more established, or up and coming rock star to fill his role.

DO NOT EVER LEAVE Brandon Pridham, my heart skipped a beat when I first read the thread title.

Well, Ryan Hardy is supposed to be that guy. I also like the guy they got from the Florida Panthers.

Most plausible is that when they brought in Hardy (who Dubas is tight with) things went south and no use for Gillman anymore.

They are going all in on Dubas' vision of analytical play until both he and shanny get fired

Our entire front office is solely populated with dubas men at this point. No wonder they all think they're doing great

Even lou had different opinions up there

lol it's crazy. It's like a cult that somehow Shanny got sucked into.

That presser from a few days ago was like "we know its gonna work even though it hasnt for a while now - u cant change our minds, we know better than everyone in the NHL, thanks for coming"

That’s how cults work! They suck you in and you don’t even realize.

Dubas: Gillman you are fired! I told you to get me a goalie!! You went and brought Eckhart Tolle as a guest speaker dammit!

(i'll see myself out).

Just so everyone is aware, Gilman was brought in as Dubas' replacement. He wasn't brought in by Lou, or anyone who is not still here. He is as much of a "Dubas" or "Shanny" guy as anyone else in that front office.

At the same time, he didn't really fill a role anymore (from a hockey perspective), and the Marlies fell off of a cliff with him in charge. It is not really his fault as much as Moore and Hunter, but at the same time, he did not bring anything that really made you think he was irreplaceable (especially over a guy like Hardy).

But wasn't Shanny the one who started it all in the first place, and ultimately decides everything?

Shanny ate up whatever Dubas was selling him even during the Lou years which is why Shanny got nervous and blocked Colorado.

This is Dubas' "creation" not Shanny's. He got sucked in and seems is too far gone now

They fell off a cliff because they were no longer spending double of every team

Hardy won the ushl in the same way.

It would be like if we hired the GM for the pickering panthers because they won with an insane budget (ojhl is the equivalent league basically).

If anyone is old enough to remember in like 2000-02 the Lindsay muskies spent a boat load of Roger Nielson money and I believe got them a title. You never saw their GM get hired as an AGM of the leafs...

It is fair comment to say we’ve never seen a portion of the fan base so attached to a GM of all things, it’s almost like the allegiance to him supersedes the team. I’ve always found it really weird to be honest, the guy is infallible, yet he’s accomplished nothing.

I think people have tied the success of Dubas to proof of the success of analytics. If Dubas fails, it’s not going to mean that analytics are useless. It also doesn’t mean that the next GM has to be Mike Milbury.

Lol. I really do need to stay away from these forums for a bit. People actually believe Dubas is a cult leader now.

Do you folks actually read what you type, or are you really just trolling that hard?

It was a joke lol. No one believes he’s a cult leader.

Most of those people don't realize all teams use analytics. Not just the Leafs. I guarantee they would love a Mike Milbury in the GM seat. Hell most of them want Lou with all his shit contracts.

I am not saying Dubas is perfect by any means, but it is hilarious reading some of the takes on here.

You might be joking, but I am not sure of some others on here.

If he’s a cult leader we don’t have to worry about Matthews going anywhere.
