They wanted him and told him not to do the press interview after the season until they signed the new deal they had in place and he said no and did the interview and used it as a negotiation tactic to try and get more money. I don't think that's ego getting involved, that's just someone seeing someone go against what they already had planned/worked on to squeeze every penny they could out of the org and they said we'll find someone who wants to be here and not just for the money. You don't get to play hardball when you haven't won anything. He gave our core everything when they didn't win anything and he thought he could do the same, only difference was he wasn't negotiating against himself. I don't know why people try and make this out to be an ego thing when it's just clearly taking a stand against someone who thought they could do whatever they want without bringing any results to the org in terms of post season success.
yep his behaviour was one of somebody who had just gone to the finals

Mark Hunter as a viable candidate seems a bit laughable at this point. He should have made some hay in the NHL over the past 5 seasons since leaving the organization. London isn't much of a challenge since it's an open secret how the Knights game the system there. And he's hardly a spring chicken. I think most of us who were never Dubas fans still recognize that Dubas was a better choice than Hunter.
We’ll never know if Hunter wouldn’t of been a better GM, guy’s loaded and has a sweet deal going with the Knights so highly doubt he’s a candidate unless the Freshco guy is right. His brother Dale would be a excellent choice as coach, not that it’ll ever happen for all the reasons already stated……..

Hold up. He is going to ask Gary Bet99man for advice on picking a GM?

Ok it really is a clown organization. If that's true, he should resign. If he doesn't have a plan B and was basically non existent all season long and has to ask Gary Bet99man, I mean, I can't even lol.
Maybe Shanny just wanna know about Bettman's upcoming meeting with Joel Quennville (review re-entry to the NHL) in case the Leafs are interested in locking him up as HC -- he'd be the best candidate IMO.

Dubas needs to get his grandma off Twitter

She's not making him look any better

He asked for almost double his salary and one that was higher then every other GM in the league plus power.

After saying he wasn't sure if his family could handle the job two days prior
I mean he did barely win one round in 5 yrs so that deserves a promotion and a raise right?

I would have stuck with Lou rather than going with Hunter or Dubas. As much as the Dubasites hate the dino, he deserved to continue but Kyle pulled a power play and got him ousted. Gord Stellick 2.0. At least Gordo had a valid excuse in Harold POS Ballard. With 3 draft picks won't allow him to scout outside a small area and Gord drafts 3 Bellville Bulls in the first round. What a shit show that was. LOL.

Dubas’s Achilles Heel is contract negotiations.

A fitting ending indeed.

I dont believe it

If Dubas does end up on some other team as GM at least he won’t have the massive anchor of having 4 forwards who can’t get it done in the post season but eat up 50% of your cap.

Yes that definitely dragged him down. I mean who would give Marner almost 11M :sarcasm:

only reason i asked i remember reading this article last year when babs said he is retired and doesn't have interest in coaching any longer

His wife had other ideas

It’s normal practice apparently. I’ve never heard so can’t comment if that’s true or not.
Its normal practice for presidents to contact Bettman for advice on how to hire a gm? What the what?

If anyone can get AM, MM, JT and Willie to be playoffs warriors, JQ is the guy. IF they can't do it under JQ and still play like they did against the Panthers, they are really hopeless.
