They don’t have a better option for top pair than Lindgren, unless they move Schneider to that spot on his off side.

I expect Lindgren will get moved, and a replacement acquired and then in the offseason Drury will try to upgrade the D.

With the cap space now and no UFA of note, I wouldn’t be surprised if Drury tried to shuffle some money around and bring in Frederic, Bennett, and Chychrun.

Yes they do.

Miller was way better but Lavi had to break that pair up bc loves RL. Any of the other D on the NHL roster would be better.

Branstromm who has been traded and waived a bunch of times would be better and I’d bet Ruhweedel would be better too.

This doesn’t mean all of those guys are ideal or even good options , but they’re better.

I don't think there are any words to describe how bad he was in this game.

Geekie couldn't hit the widest open net ever which saved him from getting mother f***ed by everyone instead of half of us because all 80% of this place remembers are bad plays that result in goals against.

They will if/when they're 8+ points out on TDL day.

They have 11 games between now and then and realistically if they want to stay in the hunt (not even be in a spot) they probably need to win, at minimum, 8 of those games.
I mean, it is really emphasized because of how much our complete idiot coach keeps putting him out there, but I cannot strongly say enough how terrible of a player he has been. I think the Rangers could be given the best forward corps in the NHL and if Lindgren continues to be used like this they still would be a middle of the pack team. It is insane the absolute negative impact he has on this team.

Thats extreme because they just ran off a quality run with him being as bad as he's been all year.

I do think he would single handedly keep an elite team from winning the cup if deployed the way he's been here. He may even be able to accomplish that in a bottom pairing role where... he also ate plates of shit when he was deployed that way in the 3 seconds he got those minutes this year.

and they won't so why... WHY THE f*** are we dealing any youth & futures for anything.

This org is rotten top to bottom.

No idea why I root for this team at all.

It's sad & pathetic

Narratives? The f*** are you talking about. Canucks GM just went on a radio show and confirmed to the sports world he was a problem. When JT left the Rangers he admitted he was uncoachable and a distraction. Tampa is the only place where I think just the beat reported issues. Thats not a narrative. Thats what f***ing happened.

First thing I thought. Haha
I mean the GM said the situation was an issue between the two. Did you expect him to blame the player that he kept on the team? When he left but he was young and arrogant and has admitted it. Tampa wasn't a fit but he actually grew up there being around actual leaders. This team has no spine or identity so let's shit on a guy that comes here bringing spine and identity. Never change hfnyr

He lost us the game with his braindead selfish boarding penalty. Ok, he lost a step he never had in the first place. So he has negative steps. How does that make him take the dumbest penalty while shorthanded? Just a stupid stupid play. Dude he boarded was no threat at all.

Watching the game today, I don't know how they'll not go 0-11. Would help if Laviolette didn't put out the dumbest lineup out there.

Chychrun would be huge imo…but he loves playing in Washington right now. Obviously winning helps that, but I’m sure it’ll come down to the $$$

Here's what drives me crazy about all of the people that want to blow up the team.

They assume close to perfect trades where we get top value for our players. First of all, usually we don't. Second of all, one trade like the McDonagh/Miller trade can set your whole franchise backwards. Maybe Miller is not a great example because he was young but we didn't even get enough for McDonagh. But point is you want trades but only trades the Rangers win. Draft picks that don't bust. Meanwhile we had 2 top two picks in 2019 and 2020 and ended up with Kakko and Lafreniere. This yearning for a complete rebuild and there's probably a better chance we have nothing to show for it like we did last rebuild than we become the new Penguins or Lightning. BTW, two of the Lightning's best players were a late first rounder (Vasi) and a second rounder (Kuch). Point was also not a first rounder. Blackhawks had Keith, Penguins had Letang.

I wish Othmann was called up. He can learn a lot from Miller. Similar style of player. I’d love to see a Cuyle Miller Othmann pain in the ass line

I really thought Miller would play with Smith and Cuylle. And the diminished but still good Trocheck line. But no we had to keep Mika on the top line. Laviolette really is more interested in being loyal to Mika than saving his own job.

If Luka can get traded, Fox can get traded. Time to rip off the band-aid. Don't tell I'm crazy. I am 50% crazy. You aren't concerned with the way Fox can't defend? It's not all on Lindgren. That was a nightmare yesterday afternoon. His offensive output has dried up. I don't care about assists. 22 primary. 15 secondary.

JT is here and he is a different animal than what the Rangers have. Put Cuylle's locker next to Miller.

Get rid of the remaining trash.

The rentals. It's a sellers market. EF said the rentals are going for first round picks and teams don't like this draft. Lindgren and Smith package deal. Acquire a first round pick and other draft pick assets. Miller can kill penalties. Slide him next to Trocheck. Move Schneider next to Fox.

Draft a defenseman in the first round

Time to reinvent the team.

don't want another vet
want R gm to capitulate to common sense and get a draft pick
add a pick + get a better pick

The two d I mentioned are 22 years old who has a cup of coffee in the nhl. They should be nhl ready or close to and can take a spot in the lineup while subtracting lindgren from the roster.

The best outcome for this team now, if you’d like to win a Cup, is for this team to make the playoffs and get embarrassed in the first round.

They have less than zero chance of winning it all with this bunch. But they’ve also been too good to fall to a good pick in the coming draft as we once hoped. But if they get too bad, they’ll end up picking like tenth this year and then worse next year and could give up an even higher pick to Pittsburgh.

The best scenario is that they coast through the end of this year, we give up the pick this year, and Drury is again taught the lesson that he needs to tear this group down.

Just get rid of Drury, much easier fix

with the way teams in front of us are playing it’s looking bleak. both the wings and isles are red hot. even the habs having lost 4 inna row are still ahead of us. And we have 5 teams to jump to get the final wild card spot. Even if we go 8-3 to the deadline we’re probably four points out

Let’s be real. We’re as close to worst in the east as we are to the last wildcard spot. This last little stretch of losses f***ed us. Losing yesterday was utterly devastating to our playoff chandes

I've been watching this team too long to believe they will learn anything. I think Drury, as mandated by Dolan, will do whatever it takes to make the playoffs next year, regardless of what happens this year.

We are currently 11th worst. Anaheim is 5th worst, 4 points behind us. It's not impossible for us to slide back. Even if we don't end up winning the lottery, a pick between 5 and 8 should net us a good player. Yes, there's a risk that we'll give up a better pick to Pittsburgh, but I think the odds of that are pretty low.

If this team is worse next year, after the trade Drury just made and whatever other trades he's going to make between now and next season, he will absolutely be fired, and Lavi along with him if he isn't gone before then.

Those lines look good - would also love to see Cuylle-Miller-Laffy. That line kind of has everything in it and can play a heavy game. Laf needs a change of scenery on his line one way or another.

So, it’s definitely a seller’s market. If f***ing Granlund+Ceci can get a 1st + 3rd/4th, Smith+Lindgren should get at least a 1st. Lindgren has less value than Ceci but Smith should have more value than Granlund. Smith has some good playoff history on his resume whereas Granlund is a classic stat padder on a bad team.

Drury should be trying to get the Kreider trade done by the deadline, too. He’s gonna need to take calls on at least Mika and Panarin in the offseason, and those trades will take a lot of time to figure out. There’s honestly like 5-7 moves Drury should be looking into making. Ideally, we’ll be gathering picks/prospects for guys like Kreider/Lindgren/Smith/Panarin and flipping much of what’s acquired for younger roster players who better fit what we need moving forward. Maybe look into making a blockbuster with Fox in the Subban/Weber mold. There are a shit ton of different directions Drury could go this offseason. It’s a big one for his legacy. We have cap space, a few good young players to build around, and a lot of veterans who should get us a bounty of assets. It’s a much better situation in terms of roster management potential than people think.

So I’m fully expecting Drury to keep basically everyone and overpay Rantanen/Marner so we can finish 4th and get bounced in the 2nd round
