If we win the cup this year, is Dubas still a moron? Asking for a friend.
I have a better chance of waking up tomorrow morning and seeing Olivia Culpo beside me then this happening.

Hell. At this point, I have a better chance of that happening then the Leafs winning a playoff round let alone the cup.

So if the Leafs lose this round of course I want Dubie gone. But he does have a lot to offer a new team. He's built some awesome regular season teams, and you have to assume there's some mistakes he made early on his career due to inexperience he would like to change. Going to Pittsburgh would be a fresh start, and Dube could be at the helm for a total rebuild leading up to Crosby/Malkin/Letang retiring.

But of course I want the Leafs to win this round, win the Cup, and for Dubie to be here and build many more winning teams
I somehow doubt he is going to inherit a 105 point team in his next job.

He surrounds the core with good pieces every year and they still fail. They have also failed under 2 different coaches/styles. Firing the GM isn't gonna change jack shit if you keep the same core.
Correct but this is the same core Dubas bet everything on, keeps running it back and tells us they will win a SC with them.

They've certainly made a good chunk of coin by making the the Leafs a betting favourite while never coming close to having to pay out.
They make a good chunk coin pretty much every day. One big reason for that is that as I said earlier, when they set the betting lines, they mostly get it right.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong about that. Anyhow, enjoy the game tonight guys. GLG!!

I agree but this gm has made it public knowledge that he will stick with this core come hell or high water.

The fact that you said “Pretty sure” should tell you something. LMFAO.

You don't think it would be a little crazier to give up on a core in their early 20s?
I think after last years some bigger changes were needed including one of the big guns out for another type of big gun.

Also he gave the youngins top dollar low term before using the situation to his advantage or before they achieved anything? And was the extra 11 milly forward needed when we had other needs?

He has no cup. Why would teams hire him to "blueprint" a rebuild?

So if we win, players get the credit and if we lose, Dubas gets the blame. Cool.

Unless we're a contender now? 4th best odds to win the cup I believe before the playoffs started, some might say that's a contender.

I'm more a grey area guy myself.
Jokes aside. I had been saying since last year or ever since Reilly inked his extension. This is Dubas team, as every players either drafted, signed, traded or extended by Dubas. We can criticize Dubas if the team underperforms but we also need to give credits to him when the team is performing/win. If they win the Cup, Dubas deserves credits as much as any players, even the Conn Smythe winner, on the team.

No thanks. Core 4 gonna save this guys ass. That's the way I see it. We don't need Dubas to have this core

Matthews Marner Nylander is the team, carrying this scrub management and coach.

It's just an expression, I've always been clear in saying the Leafs are a contender. As I said before, look at what the bookies say, they usually get it right and it's clear how they view this team. Are you enjoying the game?

Win or lose, there's always plenty of blame/credit to share.

The team is now built to compete in the playoff environment.

Dubas’ very early blueprint was obviously ridiculous, and many of us told you others that he’d have to change his naive, ignorant vision of a video game roster, big time. And, to his credit, at least he did learn.

Babs, Lou and Shanahan built this core, and had reestablished respect for Toronto. The three had a very strong presence.

Dubas has put Toronto into no mans land again.

We are once again the butt end of jokes in the league, and get little respect.

I put more on Shanahan. He could have waited 1 more year before turning over the keys. I think Shanahan if he could do it over would have been a little more flexible in his 3 year timeline with Dubas. But then again maybe Dubas is the Phoenix or Colorado GM and our team is significantly worse.

We’ll never know.

How many GMs have won cup in different places? Usually they won it with one team and that's it. So in that sense hiring some over the hill guy is a bigger risk than new guy.

Well Dubas kept the core together and then added around them. So I don't see how he is not respomsible for that.

If the core was the issue then he could be faulted for not breaking them up, but it is insane to say he hasn't buolt the team around them better over the years.

Dubas and Shannahan did that Lou helped out. Babs didn't do much.

Dubas has stuck to his plan.

Can you imagine going into this series with:

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Kampf - Jarnkrok
AstonReese - Holmberg - Anderson

Rielly - Brodie
Giordano - Holl
Sandin - Liljegren

Anyone who ever said Leafs fans dont' like the rough stuff, found that out last game
Fans were crazy, they loved every minute of it

Fans didn't go crazy over Engval's circle, Vesel's dump play from center, Mikheyevs outside fly by speed to no where

Loved it Kyle. Loved the fact you threw away your excel sheet and got players with some balls. We got a series

Balls over Data

I think we have a better chance of winning the cup and you still not being able to see Olivia Culpo anywhere near you.

You won't find a single GM in the league who would disagree with this statement .

There's legitimate criticisms of Keefe - working in a cooperative way with the rest of the front office isn't one of them
Of course but your oversimplifying what Dubas said. What coach do you think in this league sits down with analytics teams to choose their lineup and coaching strategy? Cassidy? Trotz? Babs? Tortz? Gallant? laviolette? ....How about Sutter?

Not happening.

All of them would consult with their extensive analytical teams while making lineup and coaching decisions. That's just a part of being in the NHL in 2023.
