Really? We're praising stooping down to the level of getting into verbal spats with opposing fans? This isn't some internet dickhead like dart guy or dangle. He's supposed to be the leader of this organization, and he shows that level of immaturity? Not very professional

Big difference between yelling in your suite vs yelling at opposing fans

I dont thinking its praising but more rallying. This team has been so desperate for leadership and grit and heart for years and now with a couple of the added players in the ice everybody is starting to feel it.

Yesterday's game is a huge growth opportunity and players felt things they haven't felt before. Matthews and Dubas watching Matthews haven't felt that before and I guarantee you it felt f***ing good.

This is the time of year you lead with your heart

Imo you're splitting hairs here.

There's too much formality in hockey. It's supposed to be entertaining

If this was Bresbois doing it in Toronto we'd be absolutely roasting him for it and deservedly so
Not at all. I'm not sure what would make you think that. It would be funny too.

After watching the latest Kyle video with the Tampa fans, I now absolutely love Kyle. You'll never hear me say a bad word against him from this point onwards.
He's my new favorite Kyle. However, if it were Spezza, I'd die of too much joy.

"f*** Brooklyn!"

Dubas has addressed the needs of this team every single time while maintaining the core. At some point it's on the coach and players to win games. Even if we lose this round I have no problem keeping Dubas. The only area you could say he didn't address well enough is goal tending this season. That's the only one I'll give you.

I would have been advocating an extension for Dubas is he was dropping F bombs on them or dropping elbows.
take them glasses off and wade in

We would be roasting him while secretly admiring him.

You know what, hockey is for fun and these little grudge matches and heated exchanges are... for fun.

There's nothing professional about professional hockey other than all the millionaires involved like to dress like corporate lawyers and talk like they do blue collar shift work.

At the end of the day, everyone be safe and get home okay at the end of the night, but a little WWF trashy fun isn't so bad. Good on Dubas getting into the battle.

Some of us would find it funny, but I can guarantee there would be a large group of people that would be shocked and appalled.

Good on Kyle though, that was funny. I still want to slap his glasses off though

Can’t undo the past now, he’s finally figuring it out it seems.
He's figured out who he's trading? I for one would keep ROR over Nylander for example...hes too emotionslly invested in his 3 amigos to ever trade them. It'll take another GM with a different mindset to make that call. Like Mess I do not believe we can ever win with this group. Too unbalanced, soft, mentally weak etc...lets see what happens with TB....for me Dubas is out of lives...

Bingo.

His bizarre obsession with Soo players, players from the GTA on retirement contracts and overpayment of 3 of the core 4 players thus tying his hands for other moves are primary reasons why he isn’t coming back.
Totally agree....

I would love to have heard the entire exchange. At some point you have to respond if fans are taking liberties with their language. It also shows some important passion for the team and his players.

If I'm the Leafs coaching staff I would concoct a story to tell the team "look how Dubas reacted after some fans were mocking you players!" It might provide them some additional motivation to win this series.

I remember after Team Canada were playing horrible in 2002 Olympics, I think tying Belarus or some uninspiring team and Gretzky delivered his rant regarding the unfair treatment of Canadian players. The media laughed as Wayne was clearly emotional (by mellow Gretzky standards anyways), but I remember telling a co-worker, "Canada is winning the Gold for sure now" because you knew every player on that team would feel committed to backing up Wayne. How can you not after a guy shows passion and puts himself out there?

As long as you have the talent, anyone who can muster up the effort can win a Cup. It's about motivation and commitment.

Maybe if Dubas used more picks on larger players like Knies vs the 5'9 ahl lifers we would have a decent farm system.

Although most of this board was for it, and still argue for it to this day: trading Kadri was the biggest mistake of Dubas career and it might have cost the leafs a cup. Could have played him in the top 6 on the wing. Such a waste to trade away such a hugely effective player who played a big part in the Avs winning the cup. If you think he sucks then you suck; ask Avs fans his value.

Dubas was so desperate to trade Kadri out of town he was first going to send him to Calgary for one year of TJ Brodie and Mark Jankowsky. That would have been horrible.

Instead he got one year of brutal and really unnecessary Tyson Barrie and wet fart Alex Kerfoot.

If he had the balls to keep Kadri maybe we would be defending champions this year.

So if we lose first round and he gets fired, we lose a good GM who seems to finally know what he is doing but ultimately he did cost this team so many prime years.

Kerfoot saw this post during the intermission and decided to win the game tonight. You’re welcome.

I haven't liked a lot of his early moves and would have preferred tougher teams, and better asset management at the deadlines. Not blowing picks and prospects, and trading some UFA's until around last year when the team was looking a bit more ready would have been my preference.

At this point I'd offer him a 2 year deal though. Even if they choke this series I'd offer him another short deal if he said he was planning to shakeup the roster.

Playoff teams simply don’t trade their pending UFAs. Anyone expecting differently have always been being ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure STL traded Shattetnkirk when they were a playoff team, won the cup a couple of years later too if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure I'm in the minority here but I like it when GM's think outside the box. I've never been a big fan of rentals and keeping your pending UFA's are "own rentals" so I completely understand the reasoning behind trading them.

Kyle Dubas is getting better and better every year. He is the only GM that learns from his mistakes. He is an Elite GM. We are watching a legendary GM develop right in front of us. He will be looked at as one of the best GMs in the league when all is said and done.
