Each one of those players gets their **** pushed in on flow of play. And none of them are scoring. I hate to tell you this, but Nic Petan is demonstrably better than every one of those guys.

Well that makes two of us hating that you told me that ;)

It really clarified the gap in our view of the game. We’ll just have to disagree. Ohh and Petan always looks like his stick is to short. Just misses every puck because of it :)

Petan is garbage in the NHL.

He's a AAAA player, too good for AHL but not good enough for NHL.

Shouldn't you have an expectedsomething stat to back this up?

IMO while there were some who believed a coaching change wasn't going to help, saying "most" is a wild exaggeration.

Most definitely not an exaggeration. Most here definitely argued that babs was a good coach and that this roster of players was a unique collection of chronic underachievers.

The early Babs backers were excited because his coaching philosophy before seemed to be "never give up the puck", and "dump-ins are bad".

Then... we got this shit.

Most definitely is a exaggeration, most were waiting to long for it to happen.

Oh ok I can see why you think that. Most of the Babcock discussion occurred during your 3 month hiatus, or protest, or sulk, or whatever it was.

As an example, here's a thread from Nov 16.

As you will see the overwhelming the majority wanted Babcock gone.

Want to stick with the "Most here definitely argued that babs was a good coach and that this roster of players was a unique collection of chronic underachievers" stance or for once admit you could be mistaken?

Sorry
I totally disagree with your evaluation
And 0 goals 3 assists -3 in 15 games isn’t no where good enough at all

He's been good defensively and fantastic possession-wise (as seen by the first 2 images below)

His points haven't been coming, because he's been unlucky so far. It can be seen by his on-ice sh% (the last image below). Unlucky players have below 7%, average range is 7% - 9.5% and 'lucky' is above 9.5%.The points will come soon. I can guarantee that (if he keeps playing like he is right now). We've seen many examples of this with Nylander last year, Marner and Tavares the start of this season etc. Just like those 3 guys, they all had unlucky on-ice sh% (around 5% like Petan has had) and have all bounced back to their normal paces (just like it always does). We can expect the same bounce-back from Petan. I'm expecting a 30-40 point pace once he's start producing soon.

Great investigative work Mrs Petan , I’m sure your son is a good boy from our home area North Delta ..
Lol
I’m kidding
My wife is from North Delta
I’m sorry brotha
Not good enough in any way shape or form
Eye test and playing and watching hockey for over 55 years shows me and tells me he’s just not good enough
Good kid
Last night was the last straw for me as he was given the chance in front of his friends and family and still was a dud
Sorry

What if I told you I wasn't Mrs.Petan, but I was Petan himself :sarcasm:

LOL, but yeah we'll see. Hopefully he puts up more points soon, we'll see what happens soon. Not the end of the world if Timashov replaces him, he's a good player too.

I'm not a Dubas hater but I'm also not a Dubas ass kisser.

I like the Tavares contract, the Muzzin trade, the Barrie trade the Spezza signing, and the contracts for AJ and Kapanen.

The problem is for every good move there is one you can tear apart.

The Nylander contract, it's a good deal but there is NO excuse for it getting to December 1st, it got to december 1st because by his own admission he didn't try hard enough to get it done in the summer, he said that, which means he got lazy and by all accounts let 750K stop him from getting a deal done in September which f***ed Nylander's season that's unacceptable.

He got Matthews done but it's only 5 years it needed to be 8 years.

Same with Marner that should be an 8 year deal.

He did get Muzzin which was great, but then he sat on his ass for a month and did NOTHING so there were no options when Gardiner, Dermott and Hyman got hurt or when Kadri chose to be an idiot.

And he could not have screwed up the backup situation anymore if he tired and has made NO attempt to fix it, again he got lazy.

He's a mixed bag

Part of me secretly hopes Dubas is more awful than all the coaches and gets spectacularly fired for something indefensible like stealing wheelchairs from a hospital to sell as scrap metal.

I mean I don’t really hope that happens because he’s probably a nice guy in reality and the hospitals don’t need wheelchairs stolen, but man would it be funny if the modern golden boy went down in flames for something like that.

I don’t really know how to properly judge GMs, he seems fine and probably deserves some rope with his approach. I give him another two years to get a team deep (Conference finals at least) and then think about making a switch if the team is just stuck in the first or second round.

And the reality is he cleared waivers. If ever a reality piercing fact meets bogus stats. Could have had this dominance for nothing, and yet PASS. Hello.

Yeah I dunno how anyone could say that "most" thought Babs was doing a good job. Though I guess the 3 month hiatus/protest/sulk could explain it.

I was out of mind with excitement when he was fired and I was fervently hoping it would happen for many months. And while I never counted posts or anything, I know I had plenty of company and I'm pretty sure a solid majority wanted him gone.

I don't see what everyone disliking in Petan lol. I think he's been good in his role. More points would be nice, but he's been solid defensively and knows how to play a good possession game.

I also don't understand it, im guessing he made one bad play and because of it people go full Erik Karlsson syndrome. The eye test shows he is good the numbers show he is good. A few unlucky bounces doesn't make a player bad that is just hockey. I do wish he would put up points but he is doing a fine role for where he is playing.

Of course, saying otherwise is just being a contrarian.

One thing I appreciate about Dubas is he stuck with Holl even when Babs was not giving him the light of day. Holl has been a real solid player as of late and is making pennies for NHL standards.
