you're right baby , the Dube is perfect just like Burke was before him so i'm going to pick pick my pom poms and waive them until my arms pop out of their sockets cheering for Dubas

Are you saying Burke's teams were on a level playing field as the current one? That's just dumb. We lost a team that was in the Stanley Cup. Sure playing another round or two would have been great. Boston was just the better team at that point in time. Different team this year. That goes for most teams. They haven't lost yet. You can bitch in April when it doesn't happen, but for now they look great. 82 games to get through before anyone can talk playoffs. Enjoy . Toronto has never had a team this good for as long as I've been alive. We've had some good ones but not like this.

Appreciate the Kadri trade, the Zaitsev trade, we'll see about the drafts.

Didn't appreciate paying hometown premiums for three RFAs, when he didn't have to (I blame the entire Leaf management not just Dubas).

Come April when Babcock is outcoached again with his poor game management, getting a new head coach would be good decision by the GM.

just a reminder

he's been GM just over a yr and the team he took over had over 100pts so lets not pretend he took over a bottom feeder with zero assets on the roster or in the organization
Do you take our roster today over the one he inherited?

I remember his posts when he was "The Remedial". Just constant doom and gloom, "the sky is falling!" type of posts. Granted it was kind of warranted back then, but now?...

Nonis was terrible, I nearly stopped being a fan when he lost the entire 2nd line with 0 return. I am have traumatic Nonis flashbacks with Dubas.

Here's a thought I had in comparing Point to Marner

Point got 6.75 for 3 years.
If term added $1M AAV for every year added he would be at 9.75 for 6.

For Marner, if we subtract 16% in Ontario taxes he's at 9.4

What I am saying is how the heck did Liane get 6.75 for two years!?!?
so you're saying AM's deal equates to 14.6m x 8yrs ? the Dube overpaid him more than i thought

no i'm saying people thought Burke was perfect as well , in fact he had a much larger fan club than Dubas

for this year i would but anyone can burn assets for a 1 year run

unfortunately you can't keep burning assets like he has indefinitely without it catching up too you

So what you are saying is bullshit. This is the greatest team of my lifetime....Fact. Not opinion. 91, 34, 16, 44, 88, 94. No team. So to say you could have done better than the guy who just did better than anyone in 48 years? Oh please enlighten us.

why are you giving him credit for Mathews/Marner/Rielly/Nylander ?

Did he get rid of them? Fail to resign them? Are they not on this team?
so now not trading the elite level talents you inherited is an accomplishment?

and how hard is it to sign rfa's after there elc is up ? especially if you're going to overpay like the Dube did

I'm concerned with that too, but honestly I didn't think we'd be in a position to do it get to where we are today given the contracts and position he inherited. It did cost us Kadri and a 1st in the process, but not really an "anyone could do it" situation IMO. Not with the cap work needed

I mean- he WAS an active part of our draft team when we selected Matthews and Marner. So not sure why he doesnt deserve at least part credit for those two (especially given who was selected before and after mitch)

We have been criticized about our defense for years. Dubas finally took a chance and brought in 2 top 4s and drafted Sandin.

He overpaid for Matthews and Marner. No one will care in 3-4 years

A bit of scepticism is healthy. But man, some people take it to a new level

So we should hold it against him then? What made up reason are you made about him now?

The GM acquired Muzzin at the cost of a 1st, two 2nds, and Jake Gardiner. This is a player that will likely leave in free agency this coming summer. Seems like a poor use of assets.

I feel the same way about the contracts, but you're right. Leaf fans just need to complain about something. I think they care more about what haters say on the main boards as oppose to actual results.

And still you just have to be negative eh? nothing ever good enough eh?

Can't disagree with what I said so attach how I said it... nice.
the most negative people on this board by far are the people like you who believe there positive

and you think you're being positive because you follow a pecking order on who to shit on and right now Dubas is is at the top of the sacred cow list

I wonder how it'll be spun that losing Barrie and Muzzin to free agency is no biggie when it happens.

That is realistically the going rate for a top 4 defender for 2 years who we may re-up. Plus dubas kept our core roster intact for the most part

Gardiner has nothing to do with Muzzin- they are not exclusively linked. Pretty much can just say the opposite- dubas drafted Sandin, so allowed us to expend some resources to get Muzzin.
