Having a nuanced understanding of decisions is better than blind hatred, you should try it sometime ;)
can you please explain the "nuance of understanding" to giving Nylander/Mathews/Marner contracts far more generous to their contemporaries are signing for? My blind hatred must be keeping me from understanding this strategy?

the "nuance of understanding" is our job isn't to judge Dubas but to come up with excuse to spin his f*** ups

you're right baby , the Dube is perfect just like Burke was before him so i'm going to pick pick my pom poms and waive them until my arms pop out of their sockets cheering for Dubas
Dubas isn't perfect. He has been excellent no doubt, but not perfect.

I guess, discouraging that having any type of opinion other than one that blindly supports the moves the GM has made is equated with hatred.

There's something else to consider when comparing and assessing the work done by GM's on these RFA deals. Dubas has a tough job being the GM of a team at the centre of the hockey universe. If Dubas would have played hardball with a Rantanen in Colorado and the player sits a year, nobody cares. If Dubas would have done that with Marner here in Toronto, all hell would break loose and he'd be castigated by fans, media, politicians, street cleaners, street walkers, etc. He overpaid a bit on young stars, not fringe players or older UFA's. He's done well.

Duckrider just said you couldn't build a better team without hindsight , so he called him perfect .

i guess if you ignore his f***ups he's excellent

A lot of fans here supported Dubas sitting Nylander. I don't think they would have minded so much.

No, you don't have to ignore his mistakes. He is excellent when you look at his entire body if work.

He has been excellent at building the team.

He didn't build the team. The team is the core. He spent a load on rentals using picks and past core elements to assemble a 1 off team for this season. It looks good mind you, but its just for a year.

just a reminder

he's been GM just over a yr and the team he took over had over 100pts so lets not pretend he took over a bottom feeder with zero assets on the roster or in the organization

The core is locked up, if that is the team they will be there for more than a year.

Serious question, but is there anything that you don't incessantly complain about regarding the Leafs?
If he actually was a Leaf fan, this would be a very valid question. I have no idea why this is condoned on here, but I digress.

Here's a thought I had in comparing Point to Marner

Point got 6.75 for 3 years.
If term added $1M AAV for every year added he would be at 9.75 for 6.

For Marner, if we subtract 16% in Ontario taxes he's at 9.4

What I am saying is how the heck did Liane get 6.75 for two years!?!?

No, I don't think anyone would pretend that.

when did Dubas become the ''Leafs'' instead of just an employee ?

I remember his posts when he was "The Remedial". Just constant doom and gloom, "the sky is falling!" type of posts. Granted it was kind of warranted back then, but now?...
