Rangers front office had a guy, calls were made, Gorton nixed it last second. This happened before the Trouba saga was settled.

That was also why when I posted last week I was pretty sure that Gorton had a particular guy in mind. Would be strange to be so absolutely dismissive at this stage if he didn't.

The AHL coaching job is now in a bad spot. Multiple turndowns. Multiple college coaches.

I don’t think Gorton expected the turndowns or he wouldn’t have nixed offers

Sorry if it’s been mentioned before, but do you know who any of the turndowns were? Thanks.

I'd also like to know, but only if you're willing to disclose, Allucks. I'm also a bit surprised because the Wolfpack will be a pretty good team with a lot of young talent. It's also the only vacancy in either the NHL or AHL so it's the last opportunity for someone to be a head coach.

What about Kris Knoblauch and Scott Allen?

Always possible guys may be angling for an assistant NHL job with another organization in the future
