“Watch how his teams play, his kids play smart, he maximizes their abilities and yet I keep hearing … ‘you know, he might not be the greatest interview (for pro jobs).’ The interview should be how his teams play. Four 50-win seasons in a row and very successful in the Western League before that. He can flat-out coach. He’s adaptable, he knows how to make adjustments as the game’s going on. He’s a great developer and bench coach.”

- Apparently per Craig Button, as quoted by both Broadstreet Hockey & Blueshirt Banter (quoting the Broadstreet Hockey article on the Flyers bringing him in)

Any chance at some point he gets on Quinn's staff?

I think at this point that's so far down the road as to not be worth worrying about. They need an AHL coach, they're not going to immediately flip him up into the NHL coaching spot.
Maybe if Quinn is still around in 2-3 years and they feel they want to keep Knoblauch in the organization but need to offer him something more than the AHL job

Alright @Alluckks, time to spill it. Did Gorton get his guy?
This is not a guy I had info on ahead of time. He wasn’t in out top 4 choices I believe. And my contact isn’t Gorton personally so let me see if I can get anything on this.

It was my understanding that as many as 5 had been offered the job and turned it down, with the most recent being Nate Leaman just a few days ago. You guys have discussed some of the other names that turned it down.

Tim Hunter got nixed; Gorton might have felt he’d be a struggle to deal with at times.

I get the impression, from all that I have heard, that Gorton was rather uninvolved in the process till recently, and his list (after vetting) differed from the guys that JD [among others in the front office] were interested in.

That said, I’m happy with the hire and think he is a good fit. I think some of the guys offered the position were likely never going to take it and it was shooting for the stars.

I just have a hard time getting excited about an AHL hire, haha.
