I just have a hard time getting excited about an AHL hire, haha.

Well hopefully he helps make Hartford a successful organization and develops the kids well/better and they'll be more able to step in and make an impact at the NHL level!

It's also always possible that he lurks around long enough to be a candidate for the NHL job down the road if they decide to move on from Quinn

Leaman would've been a great hire, but it's totally understandable why he'd stay at Providence until an NHL job opens up. I like the Knoblauch hire a lot, and I'm excited to see what he can do to try to help fix Hartford. The biggest thing they need down there is structure because they've been an unbridled mess since the last couple of years of Kenny G. Knoblauch should fit in well too with the new coaching culture centered around communicating with younger players.

It's encouraging the things we're hearing about him. The Rangers have some good vets who should be in Hartford this year but also very importantly there will be some great prospects too. We need both and we need a coaching staff that will develop those younger guys into real NHL players. We need the balance and winning helps develop kids a lot because it makes the game more fun.

Hopefully he goes with more than one assistant though. I'm sick and tired of the one assistant thing. I don't think it works well.

You've been suggesting this for some time. Don't you think that if they wanted to hire him, they would have done so by now? Or attempted to do so?

Really? He's been unemployed since May. You don't think that if we wanted him, and he wanted us, we'd have made it happen in the intervening two months? I believe we're the only AHL opening at the moment, so it's not like there's high demand for AHL-level coaches, or many options for AHL-level coaches to consider.

Based on where we're at in the off-season and the few reports we've read, I would bet we're looking at someone that's not really "on the radar" at the moment.
Hey good job, man, you called it and I doubted you. Way to go! :)

Kris Knoblauch? He was a Flyers assistant coach under Hakstol. The Flyers didn't retain him after AV was hired. Knobluach was CMD's junior coach at Erie. He won an OHL championship with Erie. He won a WHL championship with Kootenay. Knoblauch is young guy. 40 years old.

He has head coaching experience in junior. NHL Assistant coaching experience. Knoblauch isn't getting an NHL head coaching job. Edmonton is hiring Tippett. Anaheim will probably hire Eakins.

Only took 2 months but the Rangers found their guy.

Could this guy potentially be the future coach of the Rangers if things don't quite work out with Quinn?

Honestly it wouldn't surprise me...he has certainly had an eye on a NHL coaching job and putting in some AHL years while Quinn either succeeds or fails could put him in a position for a head coaching job in a few years
