"he's got talent" does not have a qualifier. You can say that about anyone who's playing hockey professionally.

Ok.

Kravstov has more talent than most other players on our roster.

My point is this talk about "earning it," is missing the point. He's not as good as Kreider, that's acknowledged.

You need to foster Kravtsov in a way that works for him, even if he's a big baby. It's too important to lose for nothing cause you wanted to stick to meaningless platitudes.

Before the season started, I had my top 9 as
Laf-Zibs-Kakko
Panarin-Chytil-Kravtsov
Kreider-Strome-Blais

Yeah, this is what it should be. Or Goodrow on the third, Blais on the fourth.

If Kravtsov sucks hard, you can go to him and say, "This isn't working out, you need seasoning." You can trade him then if you want, he's at least accumulating value playing NHL games rather than being suspended.

I wonder why he wouldn’t play for us in the AHL. Something has to be wrong there

No f***ing shit something is wrong here.

This is the second player to walk out and Kakko hinted there was a problem too.

The Rangers have a problem.

All the homers need to stop pretending the team has no fault. They do. They have a problem with their young forwards. They always have, frankly.

I honestly can't tell if this is supposed to be a serious argument.
You should look at it again and tell me if you can track the puck at full speed, cause that thing was a rocket from his knees. He looked like the Breadman or Zibad there. There aren't many that can pull that off. And it's not as if that was all he did, but that was special.

This is great news that he has announced he will play in the AHL for any team at his qualifying rate.

That raises his value back up a bit.

There are always GMs willing to reclaim a high 1st round draft pick with skill and this helps the bidding on him.

This bodes well for the return they will receive for him.

Send him packing

Yeah, he's got a great shot and has flashes of brilliance. The same can be said about every single "can't miss" prospect that has ever missed.

I don’t know, I see a whole lot of defending Drury and people doing a 180 on Krav and putting him down as a player, not just for the maturity. It seems people are trying to justify Drurys actions when I’m certain that over 95% of us wouldn’t have sent Krav down if we were Drury.

a few things are apparent with a bit more time.

1 - yes, people turned on VK in every way. But of course, he's a very good hockey player with a ton of potential. It's nuts to knock him based on his skillset, creativity, etc. It's a bummer we wont' get to watch that develop on the team. That said, from a player standpoint, the jury was still out on him reaching his full potential. But when is that not the case with 99% of prospects?

2 - Drury and the Rangers knew this was coming when they sent him down. There's almost no way they didn't know. My feeling is, when VK didn't go to Rhode Island that there had already been discussions. It's possible that VK stayed back due to injury, of course. But it seems to me if you're a young guy who wants to feel a part of the big league team, you find a way to make that trip. Either the Rangers decided to hold him back because there was already a sense he wasn't making the roster or someone on the team/management had expressed an issue regarding VK as a teammate. OR, there had been some honest convos already about VK's likelihood of starting in HFD and VK didn't like it and he decided to stay back because there was already a growing rift. I kinda feel like it's the latter. If it's the latter -- that means Dru and cru knu something was up. And maybe at that point, there was no material diff to sending him to HFD or keeping him up and scratching him.

As I said previously, I think Gallant prefers the mix we will generally see tonight where the bottom 9 play a heavy n/s game. And therefore he wasn't keen on seeing Chytil with Laf or Krav on that line. Which meant, one of those two would be sent down or scratched. And because Laf is #1 overall and had a full year of NHL experience it was his job to lose. Same with Kakko to some extent.

Had Kravy had more games to convince Gallant just how well rounded he is, maybe the story is different. But I think once Krav got hurt, some version of what we're seeing play out now was going to happen.

It's also clear that Kravy thought he was making the team no matter what.

I don't know that this was expressly said to him, but he was left with that impression.

I also wonder if Drury and Gallant were on the same page with the exact makeup of lineup. Or if Drury grew to have a better sense of Gallant's ideal lineup as the preseason went along. I hope that Dru and Gallant are on the same page and if they're not, they can get on the same page ASAP because this will come to bite them again if not.

This all said, Krav needed to show a bit more patience and trust in his own game. It's pretty disappointing. I mean, to expect a team that is trying to transition from rebuilding to playoff contender with a new coach and gm to have all their ducks in a row at every step of the process is unfair. Too much to figure out. Too much in flux at any given moment. So much changes from one day to next. I genuinely think Krav was in their NHL plans withn the first 20-25 games of this season, but I think Gallant and Drury came to a slightly different timetable in mind. And that slight difference was too much for Kravtsov, which again, I find disappointing.

I can't wait until Barzal and Wahlstrom drop 5 points on us next game, these idiots deserve it. Even worse they deserve Wahlstrom to score a hat trick in Game 7 when we meet in the ECF

All this whining and complaining from posters here is pathetic. It's Hajek's fault, it's Blais' fault, it's Galant's fault, it's Kreider's fault, it's Gauthier's fault, it's Drury's fault.

Wrong. It's 100% Kravtsov's fault. All the spoiled little twat had to do was suck it up and go down to Hartford for a few weeks. Little prince couldn't even do that. At least he still has mommy and daddy's oil money to fall back on.
Pow!

harsh.

but ultimately, fair.

Dreger reporting that? That means there’s prob not much interest unless it’s on the acquiring team’s terms. That guy has been missing for a good while now.

He's been jerked around too much. Lack of communication with Quinn and his staff as he stated in the Russian interview months after his first European reassignment. Then Gerard and his staff says to the media that he's locked in as a roster player. He likely believes this as well given his 20 games last year and wasn't invited to the prospect tournament that saw invitee Nils Lundkvist who is and was competing for a roster spot. Then he's demoted. It's okay to be sent down and play through it but I think between Andersson and Kravstov, the lack of communication and improper setting of expectations sent these players on wild roller coaster rides doubting and questioning their role and future with the franchise and more importantly, their own future and competency. When that doubt recedes after the initial emotional turmoil, which young talented high draft pick wouldn't resolute themselves and bet on themselves and say, "this franchise doesn't have faith and trust in me, they haven't been forward with me, I'm going to go somewhere else that values me and at the least, respects my part in this".

I'm no Andersson or Vitali defender but this is largely transcended hockey decisions. I think it would be foolish to not see the Rangers front office as having failed to create a positive environment as an employer for their young employees who are away from friends and family trying to crack the NHL lineup. Paying one's dues is one matter but making it more difficult and emotionally and psychologically tolling is another. If there are clear expectations and direct communication, honesty and empathy, things are a lot easier. That's a part of the problems Kakko had as well.

Is this a part of why the Rangers sucked at developing prospects for an entire generation? I think so.

I'm very confused about what's going on in this thread. For everyone thinking there's some deep, dark conspiracy with the way the Rangers' are preventing their prospects from developing what exactly are your sources?

Kakko and Laf are going to be established top 6 forwards with this team moving forward beginning this year. If you're talking about them giving up on Lias Andersson he's going to be a bottom 6 forward on a bad kings team so i guess good for him? He wouldn't have made this opening roster either.

I'm hoping now that this team is pretty set and we have a deep prospect pool, these guys will not get thrust into the NHL too early and will also have to play their way onto the team. I think the past 5-6 years we were in a tough spot with very little NHL talent, no prospects and rebuilding. It's no excuse and the lack of communication was brutal, but VK was the big ticket before KK and AL so it's understandable to feel that way.
