I think the blame in this situation is pretty evenly split between both parties. Why? I would say he ruined the prospect. He would have likely been playing on this team this past week if he went down. That's his choice.

We did, and that was way after everything cooled down with him. Right now, the Kravtsov thing is still very fresh.Thats what people said about Lias and they did get a 2nd for him which turned into Cuylle who looks like a player. We will get some value back in a trade although it may not be exactly equal value. No need to rush anything.

Or you can be like Panarin....don't train at all and use the first month of the season to try and get in shape .It wouldn't hurt to take a month off. Still plenty of time to get ready for the season. Recovery is very important after a long season. Must allow the body to heal after a long campaign. Allow all injuries to heal. This is common knowledge. You will still have a few months to get in shape.
Nobody said anything about taking the summer off. It just doesn't make sense to train right after the season has ended without any time to recover.
Imo only if you start from a position where the team is expected to know Kravstov is likely to throw a tantrum if sent down and think they should baby him because of that.I think the blame in this situation is pretty evenly split between both parties.
Would love to understand what Kravtsov's thought process is, today, now that this situation has become what it is.
Drury isn't trading him for a discount. There is absolutely no reason to rush a deal and it is simply not the way Drury operates.
Kravtsov cannot play in the KHL. He is currently suspended and if he sits out the entire year, the Rangers could potentially toll his contract so that he will be in the same situation next season.
There's probably close to a 0% chance that the Rangers would put him on the NHL roster even if he decided today to get on a plane back to NY. His only option is to report to Hartford, and even now that is difficult since he'll be joining a locker room of 20 guys who willingly decided to swallow their pride and ride the bus in the AHL so that they could continue to play hockey for a living.
He can't play anywhere and is wasting a key year of development at the age of 21.
If a trade isn't imminent, and it doesn't appear to be, this is just a colossal waste of time and really poor from a decision-making standpoint.
I'd be watching for teams in the top half of the league that have major injury issues. Vegas is a great example and I do know they have talked with the Rangers. As the season progresses, there will be more.
No idea. But I would guess it wasn't a second round pick.Any idea of who the NYR ask was?
If he went to Hartford,he would have been back already. Why should they bend over backwards to please a kid whos bolted twice on the organization already??MAKE UP AND BRING HIM BACK. This team needs OFFENSIVE PLAYERS.
At this point kid will need to go the ahl no matter what just to get into game shape.
he needs to accept that fact and stop being a bitch. If he is as good as he thinks he is, he will be in the top 6. He just needs to work his ass of and prove it
So true. lol
What did he expect to happen?
Demand a trade and the next week be in another sweater playing 18 minutes?
Literally one of the stupidest things I've ever seen a young athlete do
This team keeps repeating the same petty bs mistakes and a lot of times there isn't any rhyme or reason to their decisions....if he has to earn it, then how come Lundkvist is in over Schneider and Jones, what about Mckegg getting the call up over Barron? Lafreniere on the top line? The whole has to earn it thing isn't universal to everyone, it's an excuse to justify a decision that this team has made to punish a kid for a decisions he made 2 years ago, stop sugar coating it, Drury has a hard on for this kid and his demotion was to prove a point that he's the boss and nothing more. Kravtsov played well, and the fact that these guys basically begged him to come across and then did the same thing to him that triggered him the first time shows what this is and the fact that Gallant has to call him shows you where the problem is. Nobody in that organization can tell you with a straight face they think Gauthier is better than Kravtsov, not one. Would be nice to have his playmaking and shot on the right wall pp right now.

This. Remember when Brendan Smith made the team as a forward over Kravtsov who was clearly better? Kravtsov sees the hypocrisy when this happens. Ask yourself, what has Lafreniere done to take a spot over Kravtsov?
Could Kravtsov have just swallowed a hard pill and say "hey that's how business works, I'll get my shot eventually"? Sure, but let's not act like Kravtsov has no reason to be upset. Kravtsov's reaction was obviously not a smart one, but management should have learned from last time that this might happen. There's a time and place to teach a youngster a lesson, but if you know a player is close to the breaking point, which Kravtsov clearly was, you adapt. He should have made the team, and then took lessons from the coach (whether it be benchings, demotions in the lineup, etc.) as the season went on. Instead we pushed him to the breaking point and tanked his trade value just to make the point "hey you aren't the boss of us."
Just terrible asset management.
It’s been discussed before, but I think there’s a legitimate cultural aspect at play here as well. Asking for a transfer from a Euro soccer club when you don’t have the role you want/expect is part of the business. Things are different in NA because of rights ownership but I think it’s totally possible that Kravtsov just wants to go somewhere with more opportunity and it’s not necessarily “personal”.
That is fine but if he wants a future in the NHL he will have to get on the ice. Sitting home playing video games is not going to help his career. It’s been discussed before, but I think there’s a legitimate cultural aspect at play here as well. I agree. I want that to happen pretty badly. That is fine but if he wants a future in the NHL he will have to get on the ice. Sitting home playing video games is not going to help his career.
