I'd hope to get a deal done sooner rather than later because the kid may get hurt or do something that lowers his value. If we have to wait for the draft we will but I'd let it be known that we will take any 1st round pick meaning it can be lottery protected or 2 years from now. At the same time I'd let it be known that its 1st pick or good prospect. Nothing less. That we are in no rush. The more we win the less a pressing matter it becomes.

I agree for the return value but if I were another GM I wouldn’t give that up for Kravstov.

And herein lies the problem

i'm sure drury knows we're not getting a top 10 pick or an elite prospect, just making that the ask

my guess is late 1st/early 2nd, or b+ prospect unless theres a similar projected talent is another teams misfit and we roll the dice on a swap if we do something straight up

no problem waiting it out though, maybe the market richens if multiple teams have needs and you find yourself working in a bidding war...unlikely, but why rush. kid screwed the org with the latest crybaby move certainly reducing return value, let him sit on ice a bit. could have gone to hartford and privately requested a trade. would have gotten an opportunity w/ kaapo down to showcase himself and a trade could have transpired very quickly. no reason to jump into the reduced market he created, waiting it out now just makes sense and why do him any favors

looks like comtois is out in ana, but only an option if they dont land eichel. i'd try to make it work around krav there if so. not sure how much we'd have to add. other than that sit on it, we don't need him, we don't need the return for him at the moment...may not improve much but probably can't go down much more from where it is either

I read that quote as: "Rangers want top prospect. Nobody is offering any. Chris Drury will eventually budge."
If you listen to the show the show the entire segment was about how Drury is firm with everything he does and he hates if people waste his time. They notes several ahl guys asked for trades in the past and Drury said kick rocks. Said he is firm but fair w trade offers and has made a little wiggle room but for the most part sets his limits and stays there whether it's what he's offering for a player or what he wants for one of his.

The entire segment was about how with Drury running this situation he will just wait it out and get what he wants...

Just had a good laugh reading through the GDT’s of Kravtsovs NHL stint at the end of last season. Funny how all of a sudden the revisionist history says he sucked in those 20 games; when in fact everyone was fawning over him and saying they wish Kakko or Laf looked like this, finally we have one of those young studs who stepped right in with confidence, how great he was, defensively and how he was the most exciting rookie we had since Kovalev.

Nobody is happy that he is not part of this team and most people acknowledge that he is a talented player. He did only score 4 points last year and he still had things to work on but all of that is mute if he is never going to play for this team again which I think is likely at this point. Both sides are to blame for the divorce now the only hope is if we get equal value in return.

I don’t agree with you on much lately, but this I do agree with. We were all rightfully stoked to have a dynamic “looking” kid out there.

It’s just our luck that we still figured out a way to ruin him.

We didn't ruin him. He just didn't want to be sent to AHL. Im sure Jones and Barron and Schneider didn't want to be sent down either.

We ruined the prospect of having that potentially special player on our team.
Why? Because we dared to send him to a developmental league that 90% of players need to go to before becoming an NHL regular? Give me a break.

I thought he should have made the roster as well. But this kid has a history of throwing tantrums at the first sign of adversity. This is who he is, and it won't stop. There will always be something for him to whine and cry about. Top-6 icetime. PP icetime. Coaches. Linemates. Contract negotiations. Seat assignment on the team plane.

Just like Tampa with Drouin, don't give a god damn inch. If he wants to play hockey, he needs to abide by the terms of the contract he signed. Once he reports to Hartford and recoups some value, quietly find a trading partner and facilitate a move. Who knows, maybe at some point his agent can get him to see reason and the relationship can be repaired. It's just annoying that none of these moves (barring a team magically meeting our asking price) are quick fixes.

I dunno - I think Fox might've been a bit more exciting than Kravtsov....

And, IIRC, there were a lot of people on here who also thought there were flashes of brilliance tempered with a clear need to get a little older and play more consequential minutes playing on a smaller surface. A lot of us were NOT pencilling him above Kreider, LaF, Kakko, or Panarin and still don't. It's pretty clear, too, which side of the fence Rangers management fell on as well.

I like Kravtsov and what he could eventually bring to an NHL team. I don't like him taking his toys and going home though. Twice. That's the kid that you don't play with anymore.

Couldn't have said it better myself man. Entitlement doesn't just go away. Any time something doesn't work out in his favor he's going to be sitting there fuming about how he's been wronged because by god only he knows what's best for him.

yea we're not getting shit for him unless we mend the relationship.

Keep him and allow him to come back to NA if he wants. If he keeps pouting, let him rot in the KHL. A late round pick coming back for Kravtsov isn't enough for me to want to do anything. He seems like a talented player, but plenty of talented players never go anywhere in the NHL because of attitude problems. He needs to figure that out yesterday.

If he wasn't so self centered, and actually gave a shit about the team, he would already have been starting on the big club right now, but he had to be an idiot.

I'm suspect that Kravtsov would reach his potential if he doesn't have an attitude adjustment. He's not skilled enough to approach the NHL game the way he has so far.

He techincally can't even play in the KHL unless the Rangers let him.

Thats what people said about Lias and they did get a 2nd for him which turned into Cuylle who looks like a player. We will get some value back in a trade although it may not be exactly equal value. No need to rush anything.

Best case scenario is that he changes his attitude and accepts the stint in the AHL. I'm sure it's been said before, but what does this say to the other guys in the room that put in the work in Hartford if you cave to his demands. They have tape of Krav at the NHL level and I'm 100% certain that is what's, at least partially, informing their decision to have him develop in the AHL. And don't give me anything about Kakko/Laf when everyone knew those guys were immediately going to start on the NHL roster. The Chytils and Lindgrens know those guys are special talents and respect that.

I'm starting to doubt Krav has the hunger to be a NHL player. If he does he would be pushing to play somewhere. If he has the hunger and work ethic that it takes he should contact the Rangers. He does not have to eat crow but tell them hey this is not helping anyone. Lets resolve this by ne going to the AHL while you guys and my agent continue to look for a trade.
