Samsonov is 5-2-6
Vanacek is 14-7-2
Raanta is 9-5-2
Our guy is statistically worse than all of those goalies, and has fallen off a cliff lately after a decent start. Of that group, I think it's clear that he is the guy playing the worst and in whom you would place the least trust...

Statistically, Korpisalo:s number is higher because he's played more games than Vanecek and Samsonov, per 60 both have worse numbers than him (as does Forsberg). Raanta is slightly better per 60.

NHL Average save % over the past 20 years is over .900
Korpisalo went from a statistically below average goalie with 1 outlier year to a statistically terrible goalie. We probably made him worse but he was already bad.
Of the goaltenders who have appeared in more than 10 games, Korpisalo has the sixth-worst save percentage (.884 SV%) and the fourth-worst goals against average (3.70 GAA). The 8-15-0 record is pedestrian but buoyed by the fact that the Senators have given him goal support of 3.20 goals per 60.

The Finn has the third-worst goals saved above expected rating (-12.55 GSAx) in the league trailing only Ilya Samsonov and Vitek Vanecek. Evolving-Hockey’s ‘Goals Above Replacement’ (GAR) and ‘Wins Above Replacement’ (WAR) statistical models try to measure a player's value by combining his performance into one encompassing number. While not perfect, these metrics attempt to determine how much more valuable a player is to a replacement-level player at his same position. By both metrics, Korpisalo has been the least valuable player in the league at his position this season.

91 isn't that bad lol amirite?

Its likely if he can start stopping the ones that come from outside and around the top of the circles this number would improve significantly.

Goaltending cancer.

At least Forsberg was just some guy we pulled off waivers. I understand him not being that good.

We need to find a way to trade this terrible contract. He cannot play like this and expect to be a starter. I'd suggest a buyout, but we don't have the cap space to do that right now. What a f***ing disappointing signing.

I don't even know what to do with this contract.

A buy out sucks because it creates a decent cap hit until 2031-32. Or we trade a 1st which we desperately need to replenish the pool after years of Dorion squandering 1sts and a 1st soon to be surrendered. Not really an appealing option either way.

You almost have to just get the 4 years over with IMO. Hopefully someone like Sogaard or Merilainen takes the reigns and runs with it on a cheap contract at the same time covering Korpi's 4 years.

There's no way that's happening without unloading a draft's worth of picks.

Like I said in the GDT, use Korpisalo as a backup next year, THEN buyout his contract, the caphit per year isn't too bad.

Dorion is the gift that keeps on giving.

This year is toast, but can he be assigned to Belleville next season and for the rest of his contract, or does that kill our cap?
