What a terrible contract. Was pretty much known at the time it was announced, but I know at least a few were optimistic. Certainly not I. Send him packing and live with the consequences.

I still mostly blame the team in front of him.

The team quit today against a far superior team

Trade him for Jack Campbell? Maybe a change of scenery gets Campbell back his game and if not, he's got one less year to buyout?

He usually looks great at least half the game, makes some great saves and looks confident, but then…..

To be fair, how could anyone predict he'd be a bigger liability than Matt Murray...
That is fair. He has a track record of being better than this. It will be interesting to see how this develops.
Was a signing out of left field, but just hoped he'd be at least competitive as Forsberg. Out of our hands tho.
I see the reasoning. Of course, once he was signed and time had passed, I hoped for the best too, but this feels a little bit like, well, what did we expect? We threw a bunch of money and term at the best option out of a thin market. Similar to Jack Campbell and countless other examples.

I don’t think the team quit at all. The Rangers were able to trap all third period.
Martin said as much in his post game presser too.

I was watching that 3rd period and they were just beat down. Greig, joseph and batherson were skating. The rest looked tired and resigned to the loss.

The rags are a better team than us. To win this game we needed good goaltending, mostly mistake-free hockey, and we needed to outwork them.

We didnt get any of those things for the last 40 minutes. In the 1st we got the goaltending and the effort.

Would Marc Andre Fleury sign for 2 million to 3 million?
And hope that Korpi has a better season next year.
Trade Forsberg or put Forsberg on waivers.

Contact us about 4 years to long and overpaid by about 3.5 million per season. Otherwise all good

It probably makes more sense to trade Forsberg and hope Korpisalo bounces back next season, even if it’s as a backup. I’m over him though and would rather just buy him out.

Problem is who knows if even Forsberg is moveable. Staios has his work cut out for him.

Goalies are all the same. Hot and cold. If you get a cold year, stick with him...he'll have a hot year soon.

Or trade him for a goalie that was terrible this year.

It's still genuinely baffling to me that after shipping Gus out to bring in Talbot - someone who seemed perfectly inclined to sign here in the short term and who could've, at worst, split starts with Forsberg - we decided to let Talbot walk and instead sign a different guy for five long years.

It didn't make sense to me at the time, and it makes even less now. Korpisalo was absolutely not worth that kind of commitment with the sample size he had.

Goaltending cancer.

At least Forsberg was just some guy we pulled off waivers. I understand him not being that good.
Forsberg is a much better goalie than Korpisalo. He isn't the same since the injury but make no mistake he's better. Every shot feels like it's going in on Korpisalo. He over plays it and gets out if position or he just misses it.

To be fair, how could anyone predict he'd be a bigger liability than Matt Murray...
Murray actually had some sort of track record.
