Quite the epic 5th round draft pick, whoever talked fletcher into that pick deserves some high praise. Nice to find a late round gem.

I still think they just draw names from a hat after the 3rd round.

That seems highly unlikely but no doubt we got extremely lucky. Probably to our benefit that Novokuznetsk is in the middle of nowhere.

They also traded back into the 5th round to pick him, so it's clear they targeted him... about 130 picks later than he should have gone.

Thanks for sharing these! Not his best games but still get to see the insane puck control and vision on display. Now I want Boldy view too!

I am actually interested in how Kaprizov plays during his "bad" games. He's been so good that I don't even remember what he looked like during the first 14g when he started slow. But, maybe what I am more talking about is the Vegas series in the playoffs last year. Kaprizov was able to find ways to make an impact and score goals, which on one hand is exactly what you want, however I'm interested in seeing how Kaprizov responds and reacts when teams have a good plan for him or things are just off for whatever reason.

That is maybe the one question that I have left on Kaprizov. Does he have the ability and did he learn anything from last season to adjust and understand plans that playoff teams put together for him (especially over a series) and figure out a way to still drive possession and high-danger chances throughout the game? He found ways to score goals last year, but Vegas made him really non-existent as a play-driver and off-the-rush--two areas which are normally big time strengths for Kaprizov.

I agree that the Islanders game wasn't his best game. However, I was encouraged by Kaprizov continuing to make a concerted effort to make an impact, generate off the rush, take pucks and make plays that result in high danger area scoring attempts and still imprint himself on the game as the controller of play during his minutes. That being said, it was the Islanders and it looked like there was a ton of open ice for everyone (not playoff level defensive intensity or physicality).

This is something I am going to keep my eye on especially as we start to hit the stretch run and every game matters that much more for seeding.
