An underrated part of his game has been his physicality; an absolute hound on the puck. Last night, two examples stand out: the reverse hit he threw on a Columbus defender, and his OT shift in the offensive zone. I can’t think of a player who consistently fights for the puck so hard.
Parise actually did when he was at his best, just didn't have Kaprizov's puck skills to go with it.

With the cross checks he takes, I hope he doesn't get the same back damage Zach had as a result though.
(I hate cross checking so much, along with how little the NHL calls it)

That's the thing that I noticed, and loved, right away. I did not expect this KHL skilled forward to also be tough, and by that I mean tough in the right way, not going around picking fights or cheapshotting .

Kaprizov wears a type of breezers that I have never seen before. Then wears a shell over them.

I am assuming he’s had them custom made to him and especially for how he plays as he gives his back to the opponent often and takes the brunt of cross checks. It’d be interesting to see what they actually are because they extend much higher than most breezers would.

I would argue to me, again points aside, that I'm not sure there's another forward that impacts the game in the way Kaprizov does. There are a lot of really highly touted forwards that might even score more points than Kaprizov but I'm not sure they go into the dirty areas and dominate the puck like Kaprizov does

The only thing he can't do that a guy like Crosby and other top centers do is win FO's and play really good defense.

I like that his shooting percentage held up. Had sooo many interweb arguments this offseason with people saying 17% was unsustainable, despite him being between 16-20% in the KHL the previous 4 years, and zero evidence shooting percentage is impacted KHL to NHL.

Goal last night guarantees he finishes the regular season as a PPG player

It's amazing...current (games-points)

Kaprizov 1.29 (63-81)
Zuccarello 1.20 (56-67)
Fiala 0.92 (64-59)

Boldy kind of dried up...

On the Boldy topic, I wish Boldy still played with Kaprizov on the first PP. Even double shifting Boldy between both units since he isn't a puck carrier/zone entry player.

Boldy would have a lot of 3rd assists - he's been good, and was rewarded with a point tonight on a brilliant helper.

Kaprizov tied Gaborik for the single season points record for the franchise. 83pts, 16 games to go.

Now, can he reach 50 goals and 50 assists? Needs 12 more goals and 5 more assists.

Crazy to think it felt like a down year for his goalscoring at one point and now he's one pace for almost 48 goals. If he stays at the pace he's been at for the last 57 games, he'll hit 50

He is playing on another level right now. The physical skills are incredible but he reminds me of an NFL QB with ability to process information immediately and feel pressure innately. An absolute treat to watch

3 goals - 8 assists in his first 14 or 15 games, since then he's been on another level. Close to 60 goal / 120 point pace.

His pacing since November has him finishing above 50 goals and 50 assists, so yes. :thumbu:
I really just badly want to see him get 100. I think if he's not tired, we will see a monster of kaprizov vs. One of his mentor in Ovie

i have to chuckle , i think back when hemi / kaprizov was breaking the khl record and putting up the same points as tarasenko & kuznetsov still non wild posters didn't think he was special.
