I have to admit that I am very impressed that KK has his vaccine and visa in order, and will not miss any training camp. Maybe he should send Khovanov some simple, easy to read instructions.

I'll be curious to hear what happened with Khovanov.

No idea what Russian passports are like, but if you got a passport at an age under 16 in America they are only good for five years.

Probably something stupid like that where he went to get his stuff in order and realized his passport expired, and it takes 3 months to get a new one.

I’m shocked he came over to the United States and had everything in order. I’m not shocked it was Florida though:

So it seems like we will have 3 years to try and decide if we want to trade him for more pieces to build around or if we wanna take a gamble and try and resign him after this current contract is up, are we able to start contract extension talks between 2024-2026?

The best forward in the teams history just signed a 5 year deal, and you're talking about trading him for futures?

Contact talks cannot happen again until the start of the 2025-26 offseason.

Talks can happen whenever they want. An extension cannot be signed until July 1st of 2025
Yes, background talks can actually begin in January I believe... anything before that is technically illegal by CBA rules, but sure it happens anyway.

You have a source for any of this?

Looks like i was wrong, extension negotiations can only begin officially on July 1, 2025... so my original statement was correct, the start of the 2025-26 offseason.

Collective Bargaining Agreement FAQs | NHL.com - Collective Bargaining Agreement
Extensions may be negotiated but only in the final year of the contract and only if such extension is for an amount that can be accommodated in a Club's upper limit for the current year or as computed for future years.
