Yup, and you can try different centers with Slaf...doesn't always have to be Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield...although that has the potential to be a very well balanced line.

Slaf-Suzuki-Caufield

Slaf-Dach-Anderson (huge huge line with speed...really wanna see this line happen a few times, but in the end...I'd wanna spread that size to have three balanced lines).

Plenty of time...no rush.

AHL is probably the smart move (plus...we need another top 3 pick in the 2023).

NP Kirby but what about improving your faceoff ability?

This is probably the deal that was rumoured to be done. Petry was vocal about going closer to home, and shipping out Romanov when you know Matheson is coming in makes some sense.

Now, the right side of the defence is a big question mark. The LD is looking jammed and there's an overload of wingers. Since draft day, Hughes has probably been working on fixing this much more than finalizing the details of the Petry trade. If Dubois really does come here, I bet players like Edmundson and Demelo are included in the deal.

edit: dammit wrong thread :(

I'd say it was worth trading Romanov for a 15-20% chance of getting the best version of what Dach can become. And his floor is likely 3C.

If you hit, Dach is the jackpot. If you don't, you got a 3C for a 4D. Who cares

Romanov might still be more than a 4th D.

It's funny how for one there could be developmental variation, but for the other, who is just a year older, there's no variation?

Whatever happens to Dach, we traded him for a 4th D?

You're right. It could happen. I think we saw more of Romanov than Dach though, because of his horrifying wrist injury. So less likely Romanov has more in him than Dach. But could be completely wrong I agree.

I'm not very optimistic about Dach, to tell you the truth.

He won't play on a wing in MTL. They badly need centermen. He has to work on his faceoffs skills. I thought Yannick Perreault was working with Hawks centermen on face offs . If Dach did not learn yet, then.....

Perreault being great at faceoffs doesn't automatically means he's good at teaching it.

Could be either/or.
