Perreault being great at faceoffs doesn't automatically means he's good at teaching it.

Could either/or.

Carbonneau should be approached about this. I'm sure he has many defensive/intangible skills to teach. Not sure how good a personal coach he is though.

Game has changed so much since he was involved not sure his philosophy would be relevant. Doesn't hurt to ask though

Sure but these guys are already in the NHL, they know the fundamentals.

Couldn't be further from the truth.

Fundamentals =/= Basics.

They know the basics, not necessarily the fundamentals.

Maybe hidden secrets old-timers knew, that is lost because they were never passed on to the next generation.

Not how it works but nevertheless. They wouldn't have made it past Junior of that was the case.

Not how it works but nevertheless.

There are tricks and secrets that new players never learned, that even players in the 1940's knew. Hockey is not linear, nor is knowledge acquisition. That,s why everyone in New Jersey played over his potential in the 1990s and 2000s, because the old habs brought the rich secrets to the organization. As we turned our back on our most competent old-timers, we lost the organizational superiority and Montreal became an average franchise.

Meanwhile in the 1950s-1970s the pro tricks were taught to the youngsters and they became great players.

faceoffs don't change much.

That's actually not true surprisingly. Since Perrault played in the league I think their have been 2 (maybe 3) major changes to face offs since he retired.

The biggest one being you can't use your hand to bat at the puck.

I'm sure he would still be a great faceoff man today, but their have been significantl faceoff changes.

I heard from Fawks fans that it's his natural disposition. Has nothing to do with him being traded.

His brood is so strong it makes you feel like you're failing at brooding over failing.
Yes it's his natural disposition but nothing to worry about. He is a calm man who rarely shows too much emotion in front of the media even after his horrible injury at the WJC.
But it's also about what his coach wants him to be. His coach has spoken to the media about his dislike of seeing him depressed, famous "better person" words.
He used to be a smiling guy, but not last season. Hope he could find his smile again with Montreal

A big problem. If it has derailed his career the trade will look bad.
If Hughes really wanted Dubois, it would had been better to traded Romanov (or the Isles 1st rounder) to Winnipeg with extra pieces to get him. Of course, cap space is a huge problem to deal with.

It's a huge concern for me. Dvorak is another example of a guy who seems not very happy to be a Habs player.

I don't think Kirby is not very happy to be a Habs player. He's just same as usual.

Do you really think Hughes didn’t look at his injury history and hasn’t spoken with the physios who took care of him? If he thought Kirby had problem with his wrist still he wouldn’t have made the trade.

your comparing apples to oranges,

Dach hasn't done anything to make me believe he will improve or be any better than Evans,

You can't just close your eyes and have blind faith, based on no reasoning
Watching a player’s situation, injury and utilisation from the team doesn’t count you must be right.

Him and Caufield are apples and oranges but him and Evans are the same?

Will be interesting to see how he develops. It's not unheard of to have high picks traded early in their careers and go onto breakout with new team.

Not sure if it will be Neely or Bertuzzi level turn around but I'd take Nino Niederreiter level bounce back.

No he can’t apparently.

Some decided he won’t be no better than Evans. It’s his obvious comparable :help:
