And some players don’t recover well from nasty injuries
Drouin can barely shoot now because of his wrist injuries
Till proven other wise dach at this moment is marginally better than Jake evans

They don’t have the same kind of game, not the same kind of player, not the same age group, not the same background, at all.

So how does he compare to Evans?

Ok I guess points no longer matter in the new more offensive nhl
Look you like dach, I respect that but he’s proven absolutely nothing and you’re going on blind faith
Dach better get more than 35 points next year
The league had become about offence now
That’s not the point.

Saying that a 21 years old who had to deal with a pretty scary injury so early in his development is who he is and won’t ever get better is laughable, that’s all.

You must of thought evans and lehkonen were better players than caufield when they had more points than him at the start of the season.

Do you really think Hughes didn’t look at his injury history and hasn’t spoken with the physios who took care of him? If he thought Kirby had problem with his wrist still he wouldn’t have made the trade.
It's sure to be a tough call, though. Dach will say it's fine, he'll do his best, but who knows how much it will affect him now and in future. Joint injuries are bad.

Yes it's his natural disposition but nothing to worry about. He is a calm man who rarely shows too much emotion in front of the media even after his horrible injury at the WJC.
But it's also about what his coach wants him to be. His coach has spoken to the media about his dislike of seeing him depressed, famous "better person" words.
He used to be a smiling guy, but not last season. Hope he could find his smile again with Montreal
People tend to smile more when the team is winning. It's magnified in Montreal where the media sucks up to winning teams and dumps on losing ones. I'm sure Dach was happier when Chicago was winning.

...here's two more examples:

Sean Couturier
Leon Draisaitl

...easy to give up on young players having problems adjusting to the NHL...the best coaches/teams don't and the rewards can be well worth it...
And much more pertinent examples I'd say, as neither McCarron nor Poehling ever had the same projection/skillset as Dach and comparable top 10 picks.

...just to contextualize my earlier post, take a look at Jesse Puljujarvi...personally, I think, while he's been ridiculously underwhelming for a 4th Overall pick, that Edmonton would be foolish to ship him away for peanuts however it seems that may happen soon...I see much of Valeri Nichushkin's career path in PoolParty; both big, strong bull moose that had difficulty adjusting to the NHL, especially in the finishing department...like Nuke, PoolParty has alot of other tools that still make him a Top 9 guy and it took Nuke quite a while to get his finishing down, but when he did he was off and running...PoolParty may never figure that out, but giving up on a kid soo young is a gamble that I personally wouldn't take...that's where I am with Dach; the kid has the tools, the skill, the size, the drive...he just needs refinement and that's what we need to provide, as well as positive re-enforcement that he's allowed and able to craft his game his way, with help from those who have been there and want him to succeed...I think he'll get there and be a Force for us in the future, just like I think that PoolParty will figure things out, shut all the noise in his head off, and turn the corner like Nuke did...one of the reasons I brought up in the Trade thread about acquiring Puljujarvi; I think there's alot more there that's ready to come out, with the right guidance...:thumbu:

I think you might be confounding problems adjusting with problems becoming a dominant player. Couturier was an NHL from day 1. Leon Draisaitl was a top 6 forward two years removed from his draft and almost ppg the year after. Ryan Poehling was still in the NCAA and no where near NHL ready by that point. Regarding Dach, I tend to agree though. He still has quite a bit of upside.

Yeah, 21 years old, the age where you can’t get better anymore and your career path is already done.

Evans weren’t even in the AHL yet at 21.
Only if your name is KK. But to be fair when you look at KK play you don’t see how he will improve.

There will be a time in the not-so-distant future where you're going to be *really* embarrassed about this post.

I can't wait for it, I would be drastically happy, good to see that we have a poster who can see the future. We made the right choice with Slafkovsky instead of Wright ? Will PLD be a Habs soon ?

The ladies are the biggest winners in all of this.. Dacher has an absolute rope on him.

The last two times the Habs acquired a Dach-like prospect they got Eller and Suzuki :)

I wasn’t that much on social medias watching what people were saying about the trade at the time but many people weren’t very high on suzuki, right?
