Knies 20 goals for less than a million. He may get 30One of the best value deals in the league.
Eh great value obviously BUT Knies is on an ELC, plenty of good talented young players out of the draft do well on ELCs, it's not like they can be signed to more right away. McMann on the other hand is a legitimate 'value contract' where he was a journeyman who worked his way up, then showed some promising flashes and Treliving promptly extended him on a cheap deal.Knies 20 goals for less than a million. Been benefiting immensely from playing with Matthews lately too though.Knies 20 goals for less than a million. He may get 30
He’s Swedish, so he’ll most likely end up at 49 (it’s a Swedish thing)Willie 'Snipes' has 29 games(I think) left to get 17 more goals to hit 50.
Love to see him hit that, would be a great accomplishment.
If you’re a GM building a team. You have 90 million to spend, your choice is McMann and Knies for 2.5 million total or Marner for 11. Which option do you take? I take Knies and McMann.Eh great value obviously BUT Knies is on an ELC, plenty of good talented young players out of the draft do well on ELCs, it's not like they can be signed to more right away. Yes, since January 15th, they're 8 for 18 and supposedly are leading every team in shots per minute of powerplay time in that stretchDid they say earlier that the PP has been tops in the league since mid January? I thought they were awful until tonight

For a year sure.If you’re a GM building a team. You have 90 million to spend, your choice is McMann and Knies for 2.5 million total or Marner for 11. Which option do you take? I take Knies and McMann.
You'd swear by reading some of these posts that Marner has been out for more than one game.Yes, since January 15th, they're 8 for 18 and supposedly are leading every team in shots per minute of powerplay time in that stretch
It's interesting because Berube has been preaching their need to put more pucks on net since a couple of games into the season
It really felt like watching an entirely different team without having to watch Marners unorthodox style of hockey for 1/3 the game. Matthews line looked much more fluid and random and were playing a traditional style of offense. They were actually able to sustain cycle often too, which never happens with Marner on the line. Whenever I saw a cycle start I expected it to end when it went to Domi, as it usually does with Marner, but Domi would put it safely in an area where the cycle would continue. Hopefully Berube doesn't go back to Matthews with Marner vs Seattle of Marner is back, though I'm sure he will.Hey, hmm, well I don't know about the other people but I think you mays be on to somethings.
It's almost as if soft perimeter ballerinas belong in figure skating. Mitch along the wall setting up for his tripple sow cow was getting super annoying
It’s just a thought experiment for this season, where is the team getting more value? Easy to see how the sum of lesser players can be better for a team as a whole. For a year sure.
Knies will get a significant raise this offseason though.
McMann has been very pleasant. He doesn't play with Matthews and Marner and still might get to 25.
I am guessing he will get 3-3.5 on his next deal as well
All 3, obviously. If you’re a GM building a team. You have 90 million to spend, your choice is McMann and Knies for 2.5 million total or Marner for 11. Which option do you take?

He's an easy player to like. Not sure who found him or where he came from but he was a great find.McMann still speaks like he's starstruck by the idea that he's playing in NHL
He needs to start believing that he's a full time NHLer and that none of this is fluke
Great value, great kid
Dubas. Not sure who found him or where he came from but he was a great find.

First he hit the puck above the cross bar so that’s no goal. Second would have probably goalie interference since he whacked the puck out of his glove.Nice to get the win. Need the points.
Congrats to Nylander on the hatty. Surprised it's only his second.
Not really sure why the Tavares goal didn't count..
100%, credit where credit is due, nothing wrong with that.Credit should go to Dubas and company. If I am going to flame Dubas for all the things he's done wrong, I should give him credit as well
It wasn't above the crossbar, and the puck was hit in the air, not out of his glove.First he hit the puck above the cross bar so that’s no goal. Second would have probably goalie interference since he whacked the puck out of his glove.
You can’t cycle when one guy is at the blueline. It really felt like watching an entirely different team without having to watch Marners unorthodox style of hockey for 1/3 the game. Maybe go watch it again. They waved it off for a high stick. There was angle right at ice level that showed it. The top of Wolfs head was at the crossbar. It wasn't above the crossbar, and the puck was hit in the air, not out of his glove.
Noticed Domi took up that spot at the blueline a few times, seems to be a strategy .You can’t cycle when one guy is at the blueline.
