I know. That’s insane. It was just crazy how effective they were. I know I’ve said this before but it’s crazy how soft the team is with Kopitar as Captain. People act like it means nothing but I truly think whoever dawns the C the players will try to emulate for better or worse. Especially young players.
I don't 100% agree with that. I think that can come from anyone. Yeah it's more inspiring maybe if you see your captain do it but there's plenty of veterans the young guys can follow. Kassian and Nurse are physical in general. Didn't really see anyone else step up physically for them.

And the old teams were incredibly physical because of who they had on the roster. Richards, Greene, Mitchell, Regehr, Stoll. It wasn't just Brown and everyone else following.

I think Scheifele could be a decent option for us, not sure if he can play wing but he'd really help our PP and should be good for 30 g's and is on a decent contract. I know everyone wants to harp on sturm for our PP and there is merit to the frustration, but let's be real, there's really not a whole lot to work with as far as personnel.
You can't say Nylander is a no go due to character flaws and then suggest Scheifele is the answer. Have you been paying attention to what's going on in Winnipeg? I don't want him near our young players.

A talented player, but also a selfish douche with no interest in anything on the defensive side of the red line. He can't be a veteran voice with any sort of clout in a dressing room. He needs a team with a Byfuglien-type to keep everybody in line. I don't think we're it.

If this has been posted please ignore. if not, please dont ignore - i esp want @Raccoon Jesus take ASAP

Oh man oh man. RJ is probably super pissed right now and doesn’t know why. Wait until he logs on lol.
Why don't you just jump on the VGK bandwagon, your ideology on how to build a team lines up perfectly with that org.
A team with good coaching is an ideology you don’t support ? Nice. Lmao.

I've never really questioned his effort level when watching him granted I haven't watched a ton of jets games recently. I think a lot of the negative narrative is contrived by Canadian media when you have a struggling team. I think a change of scenery would do him a lot of good not too dissimilar to the Pierre Luc Dubois situation when he was in Columbus. As to him being a selfish douche, I can't really comment on that since I don't know him personally or how he is in the room.

you cared enough to attack today but not go into the details of what I said. Ok cool.
"attack"??? interesting use of words lol. Guess you forgot that you were the one who replied to my post about being excited for the season and future (& then made reference to it again a couple more times later).
I think you want a fight; and I want love...we're simply not a match on this topic.

Anyone think taking a chance on Necas would be worth a shot?
Could maybe get him for spare parts. Andersson, JAD, Moverare, Walker, 2nd rounder? Carolina needs some cheaper bodies next year I believe.
Kravtsov is another guy that could maybe be had cheap. Low cost high upside has been Blakes m.o.

There's a chasm between Necas and Kravtsov. I'd much prefer giving up the extra assets for Necas.

I genuinely don’t know how you can look at this team with the failures in forward star power and think this was a good year. I’d be happier if the Kings missed the playoffs and the prospects looked good in forward.

The only legitimate observation is that this year was an anomaly. Kopitar will continue to get worse and it looks very likely that prospects won’t get that much better to offset anything.

Unless for some reason you saw star potential in the forwards for some bizarre reason that many others aren’t.

Decent amount of you guys are looking at this season without any context. They made it to the playoffs but no one is thinking about what made them get there.

Similarly the same people who saw game 1 Kopitar getting a ton of ice time and getting a W thinking that the context of the win was working Kopitar to death. And then he looked shit most of the series.

Look at the context, not the result. Anomalies are anomalies but context will provide a better understanding of the future outcomes.

And also, I don’t see Kempe being as good next season as he was this season.he had an anomalous year. Kopitar is only going to get worse. What are we looking at exactly? Be realistic.

Did anyone in their right minds think that William Karlsson randomly broke out into a prolific goal scorer in one season? No. There was nothing to suggest that he would retain that new found glory. His career suggested that he’d come down to earth and boy he did.

Kings were lucky this season. The only way the Kings do better next season is if Blake fires the entire staff and gets Trotz. Better special teams will win more games, and better development team for the prospects will be huge however there’s nothing to indicate that anyone will be losing their job.
If you are saying we can't expect career years in terms of offensive production from Moore, Danault, and Kempe again next season, you are probably correct.

I can see Byfield, Kaliyev pick up some of that slack. They better, or the rebuild is going to be a disaster.

Calling someone miserable is very loving I agree. Lol. at least don’t pretend like you weren’t a douche in your response and just respond to my retort to you rather than attack

all things being equal....Tmac vs Deboer- who is willing to roll the dice with Pete? Oddly enough- Blake probably more stable as GM than McCrimmon in Vegas.

I think Moving on from Iafallo is a mistake, he was bad in the second half of this year, but it's been his first down year ever. I also suspect that he has some minor injury that's nagging him. Before this year, dude was just getting better and better, and we even thought he broke out at the beginning of this year.

I think he just has to get back to his game of being a puck hound, and he'll be a nice piece again.
His stats have improved since his contract extension, albeit not by a whole lot, but he hasn't regressed....just means he was crazy hot at the beginning of the year. Even his playoff performance has been an "improvement." Like everyone else on the roster, he needs to find consistency.

It’ll be interesting to see what trades are made this offseason. The prospect stock is pretty depressed. So the most valuable options are the first round picks and roster players. And I don’t see Blake moving guys he inked that have proven to be nhl players. So it’s picks and futures in trades.

If you want a guy like Scheiffle, it’s going to cost guys like Kaliyev or Byfield plus a first to be in the bidding. The other end of the spectrum is Garland, who should be available for a second and Vilardi.

Maybe with an improved team, you can bring in two guys this offseason at the overall cost of the three from last one. So one forward and one D, both who can play 15-20 minutes a game, respectively.

I think you’re looking for a winger for Kopitar and a partner for Roy. These guys will be among the top ice time getters, so adding offense can move the needle over 82 games.

I’d revisit Tarasenko. Second time may be the charm for Kopitar and a high dollar Russian. I think Kupari and a 2023 first (lottery protected) could get it done.

And on D, I’d try to trade for Sandin on the Leafs. They’re going to be up against the cap and looking to improve. Bjornfot and a fourth would be fair value.

Can you elaborate a little on this? I really have no idea.

We are perfect dance partner for teams in cap hell .. Necas could work. Main thing is to balance out the RD/LD pipeline, get tougher, and more scoring... and a goaltending prospect.. actually Blake has a lot of work to do

Hell no. I'd rather they just promote Chris Hajt and Craig Johnson.

Id roll with Pete....I have no confidence in TMac making any type of adjustments in game, or in season for that matter. And the jury is out on how well he handles the kids in which we know will be critical in the next couple of seasons. Wont beat the horse- but the Oils was a winnable series that he squandered. Game 7 said it all.

I'd be reluctant to trade Kupari.

He has all the attributes.

He's progressed further along each year.

I think he's sort of a slow burn prospect. He'll be a quality NHLer, but his path is long.

Agree about Rasmus. He looks like a man out there now. He was my pick as the #2 prospect in lasts summers poll around here. I felt after Kaliyev he looked most ready physically and would take advantage of the minutes available to prospects over the season.

Which means he has actual value beyond fading reputation due to draft position. But what’s the point of making the guy bounce around between leagues and winger/center for another year? If he’s going to hit 2-4 years from now and you can bring in someone who keeps the ship afloat in the interim, you have to consider him a movable asset.

You can’t be 100% all futures all the time. That’s a cargo cult mentality.
