we need more from everyone in the top 6 not just 2 players, wheeler does need to be moved to a more sheltered role though, get someone who is strong on the puck that can cycle with scheifele
My biggest gripe with Wheeler is that in almost every game he takes a stupid, selfish penalty. We have an excellent PK but eventually it catches up to you.

And if we could only play the first 2 minutes of each period without being scored upon.

At least PLD has been fully engaged and puts out a great effort, even though he may be leaving. Why can't we get the same from Scheifele ? Dubois seemed pretty disheartened in his post game interview on CJOB. I don't know what the Jets are going to do to get Scheifele "motivated", but he is key for the Jets to do well.

It was pointed out that Helly has not exactly been Vezina quality since early December. Helly's defenders took umbrage. Now you're up to speed.

Got it and thx

Glad I missed the fun. Hellebuyck played better in the first half of the season but he is still .919 season to date and the last guy on this team I am worried about.

I fell the same way about Wheeler. He's supposed to be a veteran leader, who's the highest paid on the team, and he sets a very bad example to the younger players, by taking his selfish penalties, that end up costing the team very often.

since dec 8th 909

Vezina quality

Im fairly certain that's replacement level?

So, to yet again stress, I am not excusing the team in front of him. I'm questioning why we are , again, thinking he's not included in their criticism. Since December the team has been shit, and despite any horseshit narratives, our goaltender has been shit too
He's the wrong guy to pull out of the pile -
With how they are playing in front of him in that time span, it would be idiotic to expect him to maintain his numbers.
There is much lower hanging fruit - it's not hard to see.

League wide average save percentage is .904.

If Hellybuyck is .909 since December he is still above average. That's not replacement level. Save percentage also doesn't account for difficulty of all the shots he has faced. Helly is 4th in the league for goals saved above expected.

If Helly doesn't extend with us, which seems increasingly likely in my eyes, we will be in for a world of hurt.

Well lunch at the arena bdfofre the game was good.
Game was over about two minuets in. We were late getting back to our seats from second intermision and when LA Scored we just turned around and went to the car. We fly home via calgary on Monday.
Schief and Wheeler don't give a f*** any more now more obvious than ever.

Do I need to PM you direct links in this very thread where I say the biggest team issues are 26 and 55? Where I call them locker room cancers? Or did you maybe want to go back a page yourself?

League wide save % is utterly meaningless. I want to know the save % for goaltenders who play a decent chunk of games. Whats the save % for starting goaltenders. This is just goal post moving and lying with stats.

Helle was actually awful for a good 5-6 starts a bit ago, Rittich as well, outside of that he's been a massive positive for the Jets this year. Even with that stretch he's been a top 5 goalie this year.

Has any player on the Jets been a top 5 player at their position? Morrissey if you pretend defending doesn't exist? Maybe?

It's like Preds fans shitting on Saros for a bad game today when he is the only reason they are where they are.

I mean, in our previous 3 games the team with more faceoff wins lost the game…. I think the biggest thing is don’t lose it clean.

Teams lose it clean to us all the time.

It generally leads to nothing because they suck at getting traffic in the right spots and deflecting pucks.

Why? If faceoffs are the be all end all? Maybe the steps after are important too which involve more than a coinflip

The problem right now with this team, is the lack of intensity, and effort by Mark Scheifele. This is where it starts, and likely will not change. He played good at the beginning of the year, but after that, really no effort. He's supposed to be a leader on this team, so if this is his attitude, why not trade the guy, for someone who will.

The radio post game show was saying he hasn't scored in 8 games now, and in 3 of those 8 games, no shots on goal. Completely disinterested, and heartless effort from their # 1 center, who has the talent, but won't put in the effort.

If I owned the Jets, and I believe Chipman meddles and injects himself into player personnel etc, I would ( along with Chevy) start talking about trading Mark, because his attitude will likely not change. We could get somebody really good for him, that will put out an effort. Too bad, coz he could be great, if he had any passion or intensity to win.
Last paragraph is 100% my belief as well.
This organization has a weird flex on how this team performs at times.
I would love 55 to be healthy scratched next game.
If he shows signs of rebellion scratch him again, send this team a message that passengers are not allowed.

.911 since December 1st 2022 which is good for 10th in the league among goalies with at least 25 games started since that date.

And for what it's worth I haven't actually read what the debate is about, I'm just providing the numbers.

Pld and Nino are the only 2 top 6 guys that play physical. 55 and 26 can do it but don't and 81 and 27 are just lightweights. Bones has to shuffle the deck ffs.

What does being physical do? The bottom 6 is all physical and can't do anything. Physical is great with a good head and hands. Barron should have probably been promoted. I love Nino's game but most of the bottom 6 suck at everything but physical.

I scream for a recall of Harkins

Bowness seems totally clueless. Even if LA hadn't scored the empty net goal, why was Wheeler the player chosen to be the extra man? There is something very off here as it doesn't make sense.
There is nothing off here. If you read what Dallas fans have to says about Bones. This is his M.O. he loves over playing his vets at the end of games
Facts man, exactly where I’m at.
i opted out of my Season tickets. I refuse to pay for this garbage. I have also heard that Wheeler is still running the locker room like he was when he was captain. If Wheeler was moved in the offseason like Chevy was trying. I think we see a different Mark.

It's too bad Hellebuyck hasn't been single handedly pulling this team out of its poor stretch of play. The team's 0-24 stretch on the PP was probably because the team was playing too hesitant worrying about Helle making a save at the other end.

Yup and if they plan on a rebuild it will be painful, but rebuilding a team doesn't have to mean bad hockey, yes they will lose much more then they win but as long as there is a vision on what this organization wants on the ice and they bring in the right players eventually people will come back
Ya I’d rather have a team like Ottawa or Buffalo than what we have now.
