From the Montreal Gazette today:

Scherbak is the latest in a list of first-round draft picks from six consecutive years who didn’t work out with the Canadiens,

They should pick him up, he needs stability and minutes on the top 6 , which he didn't have in Montreal.

He has more skill than most every King forward and turns 23 later this month. Is he injured? Give him some games in Ontario. Contract expires this season - nothing to lose.

This kind of stuff showing up on my facebook feed from the Kings is really bothering me. If I were Rob Blake the people responsible for this post would have their heads removed. It shows a complete lack of respect for the fans knowledge of the game and is totally out of touch.

Absolutely infuriating to be honest.

I think that's a bit unfair. Literally every team does this. They obviously don't deserve all star game, but since every team has to be represented Kopitar and Doughty are literally the only options for a team dead last in the NHL.

These two are the biggest underachievers on the team. Dustin Brown is the obvious choice.

Out of touch.

size, skill, speed, 22 yrs old. not all waiver pickups and free agent try out players are bad. Look at Chiasson with The Oil. 11 goals this year and looked great against the Kings. He
was a camp tryout this season with them.

You can see for most seasons, Scherbak had double the assists to goals...so he can make plays too...create offense. Unlike most current Kings. If you pick him up and he sucks? No worries...
this is last year of contract. Reward vs. Risk is pretty good.

Scherbak and Zykov both had something in common other than getting waived. Both teams are complaining they don't fit their SPEED transition play style. Both guys are slow footed.

I think you will agree this "speed game" stuff is overrated. The puck moves faster than any player can skate. A good system where supporting the puck is emphasized is still the best in my opinion. Players have to work hard to execute that type of system.

It's a fad just like big heavy teams were. You should pick an identity and stick with it. Pitt hasn't changed their identity in about three decades.

Hyperbole much or do you not remember the Pens before Lemieux etc? Of course they didn't change their identity they went from one Franchise Generational player in Lemieux to another, in Crosby....pretty easy not to change when that happens.

When they say a speed game, it's not footspeed, while that is a part of it, it's more thinking the game, and moving the puck, that's the speed game,

There was Leaf PP goal the other day, 4 passes, tap in to the empty net, all 4 guys were standing still....yet that was the quickest PP you will ever see.

Thinking the game "Fast" has been a staple of every single hockey system since the game was invented.
It's getting the correct players all on the same page, and same team, to do so consistently.
