Kempe had one hot streak right when Carter was injured, and has been abysmal ever since. It’s clear the hot streak was the anomaly, not his current play.

The issue is that these prospects just aren’t very good. They’re mostly fringe NHLers with incomplete or mediocre skill sets, even Kempe. The only thing Kempe does consistently well is skate.

You are probably right however Skating ability is a skill lacking on the kings so based on that alone Kempe holds more value to LA than other clubs, or other fringe NHL players.

Amadio is caught in between. If he's also hurt in some way, that's not helping. He's got 38 points in his last 33 AHL games, and he'll be 23 in May. If he's an NHL player, there's nothing left for him in Ontario. Nobody is hurt by more games in the AHL, but how many more 23, 24, 25 year old rookies do the Kings need to develop?

We've said the same about Kopitar, but Amadio is noticeably slower. We know how Kopitar can look when he's hibernating, but we haven't seen enough of Amadio to really know what his slumps look like.

Right now, Amadio is just one more thing that's gone wrong this year.

Disagree, Kempe has a very deceptive shot....he doesn't use it often enough....but it's a really good shot...his vision and passing...needs to improve...defensive work, absolutely...but he's a better player than most are giving him credit for....

Completely disagree and think it's a symptom of evaluating kids at exactly the wrong time.

Will agree on 'incomplete' skill set though, but I did feel at the time Kempe was rushed.

Amadio will end up in the KHL just like our vanilla friend Nick Shore.

Bold take and I'm looking forward to it being completely wrong.

Amadio getting totally underestimated.

News flash--EVERYONE sucks on a last place by a large margin, last goal differential by a large margin team. Guarantee any of these guys goes elsewhere and folks will be madder than they are about guys like Zykov.

That’s a bunch of BS! Amadio get minimal minutes with scrubs who have zero instinct. Heck when Wagner and Amadio were paired they were dangerous but Wags is Lewis 2.0 so there’s that.. Amadio is this teams 3C and they need to play him as such to really allow him to develop.

Repeat after me " The NHL is not a development league". If you can't play well enough for an NHL coach to play you consistently, you have no business being in the NHL in the first place.

I am saying that Amadio cannot succeed if he never gets to play consistent minutes as a center with linemates that can score.
Even Dwight King and Jordan Nolan got to play 25+ games with Mike Richards. Toffoli and Pearson were given immediate
top 6 icetime. I am saying that if Amadio had minutes and icetime that Kopitar does, he would have as many or points than Kopitar's 8
points. I didn't say he was better than Kopitar. Amadio is not 100% healthy unfortunately.

If Jeff Carter is not injured and out most of last season, Kempe would have been on line 3 and 4, switching back from center, to wing to scratched
and would not have succeeded. Players with skill need consistent minutes with consistent linemates to succeed. Maybe 10% of skilled
NHL players like a Filip Forsberg could go out there with 2 pylons and still produce....but that is not the norm.

When Kopitar broke in 2006-07 season at 19, he got to play with Frolov and Brown...had they put him on line 4 with John Zeller and Jamie Lundmark,
and 7 minutes of icetime, he would have failed.

This is quite a bit of revisionary history. King/Nolan broke into the league when Richard's bouncing between Third/Second Center with Stoll, Sutter would rotate them they all played around 15-18 minutes not 25.

Toffoli/Pearson started their careers on the fourth line, Sutter was the coach.

Quit kidding yourself into thinking Amadio can’t play in the NHL and especially for the King’s. When given anything resembling 3C minutes the guy has been productive and has certainly played better than Kempe at center. Also, not many Kings players have looked good playing along side Thompson, so that’s another negative in his favor

NHL.com - Stats

In the Desjardins era, nothing too impressive so far, although they are 3-4, which is a better points% than they had under Stevens. Toffoli has 2 goals, one an EN, and the other he was passing and the puck got deflected. Kopitar has one EN of his two goals. Kovalchuk hasn't scored since the Anaheim game, and has no points since the Anaheim game. Carter has 1 PP assist, in that Ducks game. Brown has one PP goal, in the Ducks game. Clifford might actually have the best looking goal, in the Ducks game. Doughty has 1 assist, which came last night, on the EN goal.

Take out the new coach energy Ducks game, and they have 8 goals in the last 6 games, one of them an EN, so 7 real goals.

Thompson has played better than Amadio at this point.

Amadio has no reason to be up in the NHL right now. Send that bum back to the AHL.

Kempe was also 6 of 7 on the dot last night. While his overall FO% isn't great it's significantly improved over last season. If he continues to improve he'll be an adequate faceoff man soon.

Hopefully him and Luff can continue to develop some chemistry so they can both establish themselves as quality NHLers.

People should get off Kempe's back and be more pissed at Carter's and Tofolli's games. They are not doing much. I would switch Iafallo and Kovalchuk, to
have Iafallo inject some life and energy into that line and perhaps Kovalchuk with Kopitar and Brown would be good. Does not matter if they were
a little flat in pre-season - most everyone was. This switch might be a good one to try.

I agree and would like to see that change too.

What the?? Eckpoo delusional

>>>>>Hagelin Moving Again?
Strong rumors that LA is in on Nylander, but may choose to move Carl Hagelin and Edmonton is very interested...this one makes sense. <<<<<<

How is LA a fit in a deal for Nylander? They want a top young D and the Kings don't have one...I would think they may want Muzzin but
they would probably want Muzzin + #1 2019. I don't think Muzzin + Carter or Toffoli is enough. And Hagelin on the move? The Oil?
They just made Hitchcock coach.

This guy has been impressed by Thompson. I hope he continues is good play and is flipped at the deadline. Should be valuable for a playoff team

You sure? I could have sworn people were calling me a homer and I didn't know shit because I was telling them Thompson was doing fine....I dunno man, I think you maybe a homer and full of shit.....(sh)

Cannot speak to everyone else but for me he has outperformed my expectations of him. Now those expectations were very low and I did not like him last year. The past few weeks though he has played with good passion and created energy.

No he wasn't lol, his game hasn't changed one bit....your views might have...but his game..hasn't, it's been the same.

I sure notice him more lately. If it is not him elevating his play then it must be everyone around him playing worse making him look better. I think it is likely a bit of both.

No, it's not him elevating his play, or others playing worse, it's the team as a whole playing better, so it tends to make players look better....when the team was playing like dogshit....the perspective was that everyone was.....now it's not...so the perspective is mostly that everyone isn't....

Thompson hasn't changed his game from the first ten games of the season til now, but he's being supported by others now, they are playing a 5 man game again, so it shows up as being more effective etc.

I am comparing him now to last year. He underwhelmed me last year setting low expectations for me, and now is playing more to what I thought he would last year

Fair enough, I was comparing him to the 1st 10-15 games were people thought he was absolutely atrocious...and didn't like me very much because I said he wasn't...

His game really hasn't changed at all...
