I give Eklund props for doing what he does and earning money off it. Everyone knows its BS but still visits the site. Why? Its misinformation. I'm the hockey guy in my circles, as I'm sure a lot of you guys are too. I can't tell you how many times someone has told me "I read a rumor that......" and I have to explain that they didn't read a rumor, what they saw was at best common sense speculation but more often tabloid level arbitrarily selected players and arbitrarily selected teams.

I don't have an issue with people posting speculation. I have an issue with someone claiming that they have sources within organizations telling them about what players they're interested in acquiring/moving and with what teams when they have no such sources and are only actually posting aforementioned common sense speculation.

I could see a Nylander + Deal for Doughty. Doughty would have to waive his NTC, but I could see him doing it for Toronto. I truly believe loves LA and wanted to stay here forever when he signed, but I also feel that he didn't expect the team to be this bad this year.

i think all these players that are "fed up" of being with bad teams so they demand trades need to learn more patience

i.e. Duchene vs Colorado
i.e. O'Reilly vs Buffalo

if these players stuck with their teams' long term plans, they both would have been in the playoffs sooner than later

Watch Doughty get traded to the Leafs and they'll have to go through their own cap hell eventually, and gets stuck in a mess over there, hypothetically speaking.

So what then? Ask a trade back to a fully retooled and reloaded Kings team?

In the cap era, a good team can become bad and vice versa in less than two seasons

If Doughty is smart enough, he should endure a couple of seasons of hardship... it will payoff

How is LA a fit in a deal for Nylander? They want a top young D and the Kings don't have one...I would think they may want Muzzin but

This. Sometimes you have to be bad to get good. The Bruins went through it post cup, the Hawks are facing hardships just like us too.

Yah, not gonna happen. The Kings do have some pieces the Leafs could use if they are going for the Cup, if a Nylander deal is made and a Kings D is going the other way as part of a package it will be Muzzin or Martinez.

I don't think Nylander can sign with any team come July 1. He would still be an RFA if a deal is not reached or only a 1 year deal is reached.

I do not think Leafs would be interested in Muzzin + Toffoli for a few reasons...that's too much salary for them to take back.
If they could pay Nylander upwards of 8, they would, but they cannot, as they must sign Matthews, Marner and Gardiner.
Maybe the Leafs would take one decent roster player that can actually help them, like Muzzin, but would need other assets

Hadn't heard Clague but ya I could see them being in on him.

The salary makes sense as Gardiner is a UFA this year and will likley ask for a raise. So instead of an increase to Gardiner they get Muzzin. It creates cap flexability even though they are bringing in $8m because it is split between two players taking the preasure off of signing Gardiner. Either way if they keep Nylander or deal him it will be interested what Metthews, Marner and Kapanen contracts look like.
